  1. Could and should have been the best player in the world.
  2. The key to World Cup (or Cuppas in da hood) was to conserve energy. Let the kids with disco pants who thought they were class run round the pitch and get knackered while you watch then strike while they dead on their feet. Not goal mooching by the way, that was poor form.
  3. A mate of mine has just started using a dating site. He didn't have a clue what he should put on so we recruited the wife of one of our mates to write his profile for him. Worked a treat as she knew his qualities and also wrote it knowing what ladies want to hear. He's currently fighting them off with a shitty stick.
  4. Spot was a canny game. I once got chinned though after winning it. I blame this childhood incident on me losing my competitive edge.
  5. British Bulldog would always get banned after some kid would inevitably get pummeled and badly hurt, then it would pop up the next term and get banned all over again and so it would continue.
  6. Lord Sugar trying his best to associate himself with Jobs, he's slipped in at least half a dozen tweets today going on about him and Jobs being big competitors in the 80's. Hmmm..
  7. Cheers lads. Aye totally makes you think about what's important in life, rows with friends and lasses, NUFC, trivial things in life just don't matter and you never imagine it's going to happen to someone you care about. At the same time it's the type of thing when I see him which is nearly all the time since he found out, I just go there in a mindset that it's going to be alright, because I'm sure it's the type of thing where positivity is absolutely vital in overcoming it. If you just accept it then you're fucked. He seems to be positive as well, and its still doing normal things like going to the pub. I've focussed on how happy I've been with my life for the last half year and it's getting better, and tried to rub that off on him. In five weeks time we'll know if the treatments and operation he'll have are successful. They reckon they got it just in time and it's not spread. Spot on. My mam has had cancer a number of times and this has always been her philosophy, macmillan actually ask her to counsel other cancer patients. No one is saying you sweep it under the carpet, stick your fingers in your ears and get on as normal, but it's not the death sentence that many perceive it to be.
  8. Credit where credit is due, the guy was innovative and I think we underestimate how much of an impact on popular culture and technology he has had..mainly as we all take our iPod, iPhone etc for granted. Having said that however, as part of my job I follow a lot of techies on twitter and the fawning over him has been a little bit ott for my taste.
  9. Aye. Zidane was Algerian / Marseille though. I think this lad's from Paris. If he does get a game and a goal, look out for Ryder calling him the 'New Zidane.' Sadly, I wish I was joking.

  11. I went to see Sparta Prague a few years back and it was much nicer a ground than I thought it would be. It basically had one end that was batshit mental, full of ultras, flags, flares, and noisey as fuck. The away fans were to the right of where we sat (we were right behind the goal, literally) and we were only separated from them by a metal fence, which home and away fans quite happily exchanged punches through while the plod and stewards dozed off. Great experience like, I took a photo of the sign they had outside the ground which basically had 'no knifes, no guns, no bombs' on it.

  13. Proper decent PL strikers are clinical. I think this is the one major thing that Best lacks. Like I say, I like him. His work ethic and willingness to get involved are excellent.
  14. Been out the management game a long time though. Top bloke though, once saw him walking through Eldon Square before a home game and my mate did the whole 'my father knew you' crack which he took quite well considering he's probably heard it a thousand times.
  15. Our 5-a-side team has been having a shitter last month or so, can't buy a draw let alone a win. We've always been there or thereabouts and competed with everyone, even the really good sides have never given us a drubbing, never beat them but always run them close. Last dozen games though we've been to a man garbage, everything we've touched has turned to shit, and two weeks ago we got a pasting off the top team we always run close. We finally managed a win last night against a decent enough side and looked back to our old selfs but fuck me has it been painful. We were actually questioning whether being the wrong side of 30 had caught up with us and our powers were fading and maybe it was time to jack it in.
  16. And of course any of the lercals from round the coast know about the infamous Johnny Decker. He's my friend on Facebook and there was even an online game kicking about a while back entitled 'Lendz a Tab.'
  17. There used to be a lad who walked around North Shields a few years back shouting (not singing) Bon Jovi songs. We called him Mong Bon Jovi.
  18. Some pretty random and freaky shit on there. This one particularly tickled me.. http://www.bigguts.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=2
  19. We had a kid, a canny hard kid as well, at school who had a massive phobia of needles. We only found this out as we watched a video about needles in the class once and he fell off the chair and pissed himself.
  20. The kids you work with are talking about bars in town they were at on Saturday night and you; A ) Have to ask where they are. B ) Tell them they were called something else when you went to them but..hang on..it's there somewhere..now what was it called? I'll remember in a minute etc..
  21. Despite the fact we've been together 10 years and married 4 I'd love to say it was planned. Alas not. Anniversarys and drink are the only fertility advice I can give. I'm sure it'll be fine.
  22. To be honest, the biggest pain in the arse we have has been sorting out the 'crap room' which I'm guessing we all have. It is now the Nursery (scary stuff) totally cleared and decorated (pink -go figure) but the shite that was in it is now dispersed around the rest of the house. 95% of this shite belongs to one of us, can you guess which?
  23. Thing is, he can't avoid heavy tackles from hard midfielders in the league forever. No point in avoiding Henry on Saturday, if he wants to be a big player in the PL he's going to have to prove he isn't made of glass. We can't protect him forever.
  24. I got mine from there as well and the kid (and the little fucker must have only been 17) was actually canny knowledgeable and the pair I got are superb.
  25. I'd absolutely agree with this. I had it in my head that because when I was younger I was always a sprinter rather than doing any sort of distance, that I couldn't physically run anything long and the hardest part was getting over that mental block that would kick in when I've done a few miles. Lost count of the number of times a while ago that I set out to run 7-10 miles and ended up stopping after 3-4 and thinking I couldn't do any more, when in fact I was quite capable. Obviously that's a little different to marathon distances like. Yeah, agree, which is also why I think mixing your routes up can help as well as it's quite easy to get 'bored' of the same run and therefore feeling knackered when you're actually not. I was also told by a serious runner not to get disheartened if you do what should be a comfortable tun and you have a shitter, sometimes your body just says 'I can't be fucked today' for no reason.
