  1. You were referencing AAPL price drops the day we released 2 massive pieces of material info only for our price to slide with the whole of the NASDAQ. We rallied since but the day you made reference to it was a sector fluctuation, not a company one.
  2. Same with Google, Expedia etc.
  3. I work for a NASDAQ firm, i know the general sentiment so dont be fooled by sector fluctuations. Surely long on Google is worse.
  4. Still desperate to have the best device? Here's a basic story about the power of Apple's business. All over the world millions of young parents share the same simple story of modern life. These parents have children under the age of 4. These parents all have children who do exactly the same thing. They put their fingers on real photos and try to swipe to the new one. They swipe pages of a book without trying to turn the page. They put their fingers on TV screens and try to swipe a new image or push an icon with their fingers. A revolution in technology occurred and Apple created it by having the commercial ability to make it happen. The Nexus 10 is better and i can say that as i am a moron who buys into Spec wars.
  5. Inspiration is an individual thing. I certainly think the Olympics influenced how we see ourselves as a nation, i dont mean the glory of winning but in the way we organised the games, welcomed people, put on events, supported them, how we cheered, the intense interest in how we were being seen by other nations, the way all of us reacted to the great victories on an emotional and nationalistic level. No one is going to tell you directly what it meant as its quite subtle, everyone forgets about the events or the feeling passes but the event had its impact culturally. I dont doubt for one minute there are kids training hard this week with some sporting ambition driving them on. You'd have to know those people to feel the impact directly though.
  6. I agree with that PL. I'd add that some of the criticism of Pardew whilst unfair, is probably highlighting some real weaknesses. I think people know that Pardew wants us to be hard to beat first as winning, not playing with style, is his priority. Last season he said that he focused on getting us organised first before allowing us to play more expansively. However, this season, its not about gelling the 'group' together for the first time and forging relationships, partnerships and understanding. Its about consolidating the team ethics, commitment, organisation and the psychology of being the "5th" best team in the league (heavy on the quote marks). This changes how we approach each game, despite him insisting 'we are Newcastle, therefore we should try to win every game'. That might be true but as a statement it hides the complexity and specific nature of preparation for each game. In all of this, he has come up a wee bit short as the team performances have reflected. I could understand some of the criticism leveled at him last season but found it ridiculously naive and narrow-minded. Having seen what he achieved last season, i think he was won the right to be given the benefit of the doubt in his methods. He deserved it last season, now he has earned it. We'll see where we are at the end of January. A lot of my own analysis of him as a manager will depend on his persuasiveness with the owner to get him the defensive cover we so badly need.
  7. Going well in Europe, top half of the league and 3 points off the CL places. If we're shite then so is football.
  8. Stoke away, Man U home, Liverpool home, Chelsea away, WBA away were probably the top 5 performances? I'd have to remind myself of all the results. Only the Stoke away game is the first half of the season, not that it means much tbf.
  9. I thought we played quite well yesterday and i thought Liverpool were lively too. As HF rightly pointed out, we were shite for the first 12 games last season.
  10. I dont think CT even knows what formation we were playing.
  11. By the time the android app developers get round to updating the apps for the nexus 10 (I.e. ages as its lower priority financially), the iPad 6 will be out with built in nosh-off.
  12. iPad 5 is coming out in January with what apparently will be marketed as a 'pissing in android's chips 301 ppi'.
  13. Fair choice imo, i would have gone for Django Django but there's loads of great ideas on the alt-j album, a bit too many possibly but still interesting. Dont understand why club / techno / underground dance artists dont get a look in though.
  14. Thats a whole new level of gay wanker that I've never even come across.
  15. Of course if they'd been based in Bradford there's no knowing where you might have ended up. 'for a laugh' = after watching a Bond film, doesn't it?
  16. You've never been my favorite poster Dr G and this thread doesn't change that one bit, you've been given the greatest gift in life, the means to be able bring life into the world with all the comforts of a perfect middle class life and you're pissing and moaning about nights out with the lads. If this is in some way related to a general sniffiness from your lass it's probably well deserved. Count your blessings knobhead.
  17. If i find a decent stream then thats what i do but its rare for me. We are often on Canal + nowadays so its not that often i've got a shit stream. I have never had the energy or the wherewithal to sort out the sopcast for mac thing and i dont have admin rights on my pc to set it up there. Anyone done sopcast on a mac?
  18. I remember Largely Irrelevant, had fuck all to say usually.
  19. Aye, i was referring to streams not sopcasts. With sopcast its a right ball ache to get it to work on a mac (need something call a wine bottle to create a windows environment etc iirc) then you'd need to get whatever media flowing from that to the ipad, then HF's cousins want to then get this to a jailbroken apple tv. It sounds quite niche to me.
  20. Incorrect, 3GS and above running the requisite OS will give you airplay, mirroring can only be done on newer models. So what? Is that meant to be a differentiator? Air play and mirroring are old hat. iOS 6 on ATV3 next year will see TV apps from developers anyway, putting games etc on TV with touch/phone/pad control. TV is the next thing, Samsung and Google are already well placed to develop this area too.
  21. Because no one has jail broken atv3 yet i guess. They wont be streaming from the iPad so they may as well connect the laptop to the TV. Plus whats the point, streams have rubbish resolution, they are better small. I've got 4 HDMIs on my tv, 2 on the side with a spare cable, it takes 2 seconds to connect a stream to the TV but i never do it because its shit. Not sure illegal streams on jail broken devices are ever going to be a priority either.
  22. It'll be old footage of him in nowt but black socks and a cowboy belt singing 'You can leave your hat on' for his lass on their 15th wedding anniversary.
  23. I can just see it. We did a lush training last week, simulated price war-games with a proper piece of software. You had to interact with each team, negotiate and then bid for business. It all got processed through a program and then generated a business report for the year. We were all bankrupt by 2018.
