Only got hold of Neu!, Neu! 2 and Neu! '75 last year. Great stuff. Got into Neu and Can through an old goth friend from Tynemouth when i was a kid (before techno), it wasnt until a few years ago that i realised that Neu! probably invented the 'rolling' techno/house sound a la Carl Craig etc. By the way i eventually got a hold of Battles - Mirrored last night as you've been banging on about them for ages. Top stuff and elements of the motorik sound coincidentally.

If the government takes pictures of our private parts, is that phormography?

Was listening to Neu! - Hollagolla on the way to work this morning. Motorik heaven.

Thought Tim Sherwood was spot on after the match when he said no-one wanted to take responsibility, pick the ball up and try the killer pass. For most of the second half, there were either long balls from the back or tight threaded balls to feet to players marked in advanced positions. As has been noted, the one player taking some responsibility and trying things was Nicky Butt, who doesnt have the ability (thought his break up play was excellent though last night). A note on Owen is that if he is going to play in the 'hole' he needs to look for possession instead of just standing in a less advanced position than the other strikers. The striker in the hole drops deep to pick the ball up, advances the play and then makes runs into the box and even gets beyond the striking partners. His movement in midfield is shit basically, which exacerbated the general midfield problem.

So was I. I thought there'd be some magic wand waved and we'd win 3-0, I should know better at my age. Last night was like shaggin on anphetamine, you know you're unlikely to come and when you dont you feel totally frustrated, and the next day your head is in bits and you are utterly bewildered. You're on form

Nowt wrong with albums that have charted. I listed several in my preamble. Just thought I'd do it like the Kermodes where he's not allowed to include anything that wins an Oscar in his year best. Opens it up a bit. I liked Vampire Weekend. I probably prefer those 20 myself though. Then the list is not the best 20 albums of the decade then is it. No, it's just my favourites. Which I said was made up of "most played" tracks on my ipod and subject to change. I asked for other peoples "favourites" in the hope that the combined contributions from all members might reprasent a "best" of the decade....and give me some stuff to check out. I wouldn't be as conceited to think my opinion would be in any way definitive, just thought I'd see if I could get a bit of chatter going on a slow day. Little did I realise I had to get the right answer in my opening post. I never said you did All 20 of them better than Sufjan Stevens (Illinoise)? That can push out the Atmosphere one. You don't have to highlight the wrongness of my list with every suggestion you make you know. I thought that was the fun part of these lists? We can build a top 50 then

Smith, Guthrie and Jonas. If Shearer insists on playing Smith because of his performance last week? With Smith holding and Guthrie on the right, it might work.

All depends on which midfield Shearer goes with. There's been plenty of noise about 3 up front a la Keegan but who will he select in this case behind them. Butt and Nolan starting = draw at best.

Bit early really, i think looking back at the decade with some distance allows a proper reflection. Whats wrong with albums that have been successful and charted? Its the biggest conceit of the muso, that there arent enough of them in the world to bring commercial success to what they critically acclaim. No Vampire Weekend? Just becasue it was successful or those 20 are better?

scary thing is a large portion of the teenage (and adult for that matter) population don't have world views, to much emphasis these days on consuming not enough about the general state of the world. globalization has not brought the "percieved prosperity" to the masses as was hoped, instead it has brought McRib sanwiches, coke zero, "smart"phones and a insatiable desire for whatever is on the front page of next years catalogue (HAHAHA.......good thread stevie) You know what, I reckon half the people in the world, probably more just don't give a fuck, or don't know. They're so narrow minded, and have no interest in expanding their knowledge in any way shape or form. As sad as it sounds I'm often on wiki having a look at the most bizare things, because I have an appetite for new things. People could go through their life in Englanbd never having been to London let alone going abroad. I know a scouse solicitor, a pretend one who defends shoplifters etc... who has been to London 9 times, Wembley all of those times, who describes London as a shithole and Londoners as cunts based on Wembley. I'm ashamed to say my lifes philosophy more and more is you are a cunt till proven otherwise, and I look down my nose at more people than I ever used to. Thats basically the last phase of thinking before you finally grow-up, whereupon you then tend not to pre-judge anyone and take people as they come, filtering out the cunts quickly and making time for the people whose interactions you value. As i said Stevie, 35 is when you are finally as condescending as you can be

Have to disagree Noelie. We are still shite just not as shite for as long. You can't polish a turd. Course you can, you just have to cover it with a lacquer once it hardens. Speaks the voice of experience
