  1. scenario for you. fat fred finds that his shares in greggs bakery have octupled in value and he offers in an unusually nice gesture for you the fan to advise him on who should stay and who should go. you have £50m to spend and can get rid of or hire any player in world football who would your first 16 be? and would you have roeder as manager
  2. apart from his shooting baines for me is an average full back. celtics lad at left back looks ok. but wouldn't leave them for us.
  3. fair play to barton. good but not great player saying it how it is.
  4. got a knackered knee though hasn't he....
  5. Purely out of interest, who have you got in mind that fulfills that criteria and would be plausible target? end of the season heinze (probably not going to happen) lahm (see above) van bronkhorst (bit old see above) sylvinho (as above) Antonio lopez capdevilla nesmachnyi all are possibilities but if we are skint maybe not. ah and you said plausible. no one then. didn't really think that one through!
  6. seconded on the robinson front. he's been well off form this year. david james has been playing out of his skin in comparison.
  7. when exactly. our football is shite this season. actually its not shite but its not good if you know what i mean. i'd rather we won playing 45 consecutive passes and nutmegging the keeper from 30 yards but it ain't gonna happen with this team as we currently stand.... results first, fancy bollocks second. currently
  8. the northumbrian, very true, so clearly the team on paper is worse than the one on the pitch... my point exactly.

  10. absolutely, shearer on the board of selectors. jeezus wept. great player etc etc but far too selfish for my money to be given any semblance of control. Yet.
  11. true enough, would work wonders in a diamond formation in the middle as well, as the forward looking point of the diamond.
  12. forgive me if i am wrong, but is he saying he has a blanket that costs too much and is patchy in places as well as having some overrated past their best parts, and some say the purple patch in it is fading, also the real owner is a russian that doesn't really care about it.
  13. defo his best position is as the old inside forward, fuck knows why he always used to think centremid was his best place. showing reasonably good form atm, but right mid/ wing or inside forward would be his best place.
  14. exactly jonny he's a manager that has a good record, getting a team like leicester to 2 cup wins and top 10 in the league with the players he had was really good management, getting a poor celtic team to the final of the uefa cup is no mean feat. knee jerk reactions however seem to be the order of the day here some times (and i'm not exempt) i know who i'd rather have managing my team. despite roeder getting some decidedly good results recently it for my money is more by luck than judgement, despite the defence having an average age of 18.3 etc etc...
  15. if shola comes back we can save him for next season. not that i'm comparing shola to owen in any way.
  16. who's his press agent. he must be pissing himself having read that.
  17. skhwoody. the way sol campbell has played for pompy has been extremely impressive. despite his age he is still probably one of the top 3 or 4 centrebacks in the premiership. why on earth we didn't go for him i don't know.
  18. what was the reason apart from getting £7m for him, for him leaving last time. i heard he was booted out of arsenal and fulham for being a thief. but can't substantiate.
  19. so in summary someone needs to rejuvenate our scouting network, change the terms we deal with players on. sounds like some sort of plan.
  20. very true. its a question of balance and contacts in the world of football directorships. look at arsenal, they have on the board a load of wheeler dealers that get revenue for them and get paid reasonable retainers based on what they actually bring in to the club (thats one of the reasons why they are an attractive proposition, because they have people grafting away making sure they are represented globally and get revenue in from around the world). the board we have generates a bit of cash, but its peanuts compared to the big boys. also the board are quite happy to take their slice of the profits with (IMHO) scant regard for the wellbeing financially of the club.
  21. you've kind of nailed it,the lack of quality however at left back indicates to me that either our scouting network is shit ( which i think it is) or we still haven't identifed internally at newcastle that the most obvious priority is a quality left back, thats comfortable on the ball, has genuine pace, good tackling and distribution skills and can cross! its not too much is it?
