  1. That's pretty much the way I would start a game if all were fit, and on the bench I would have; Krul. Lovenkrands. Kadar. Raylor Lua Lua. If Barton were ready I'd put him in for Smith who is off the boil at the moment. Don't know about new signing Hall. I would have to be desperate to consider Butt, Nolan, Pancrate, and Ameobe. The Dutch boy looked good but he's only on loan for a month but a decent fill-in until Enrique is back. Looking forward, maybe Williamson and Saylor could form a better partnership than Colo & Saylor, maybe? We get 7 subs these days Noelie...krul, Hall, Van Aanholt, Raylor, Barton, Lovenkrands and Shola. I know that Sport but you can only use 3 so I went with Krul as a must in case of injury to Harper. Lovenkrands as cover for up front and wide positions. Kadar as cover for anywhere in the back four. Raylor as cover for right back and wide right. Lua Lua because he looks lively and full of promise and cover for any attacking position.

  3. I would have started Lovenkrands instead of Nolan I would have started Kadar instead of Raylor. I would have stated Jonas or Pancrate instead of Butt. But what do I know other than Hughton is getting it wrong.
  4. Not necessarily but I think it might be a good idea if they were paired as starters and given a run of games.
  5. Very profound Craig ........and I must agree.
  6. Pathetic There were periods in the second half that looked like they were going to come out winners. Not enough ball retention. Too many give the ball away passes. More often than not Routledge lost the ball when he tried to carry it forward. The Dutch boy at left back had a decent game and came closest to scoring. Opinion of Hughton's managerial capabilities sank deeper, starting line-up and substitutions were questionable. Where were Kadar and Lovenkrands? Raylor was poor, most of his crosses went to blue shirts. Colo and Williamson were steady. Butt, what can I say about him? For the league leaders to play an hour against 10 men and not score doesn't speak highly of their prowess. I'm happy we didn't lose, pissed off we didn't win.
  7. If we do achieve promotion I don't think it will be because of Hughtons skill as a manager. I think we are where we are right now because of the players we have playing in a pretty much non-quality league. When you consider that we have a large percentage of players who have Premier League experience from last season, you have to question why Hughton has not been able to get them to play better than what they are doing now in a lower league. The majority of our wins and draws have not been achieved in any grand football manner, more scratch & claw, and Hughton doesn't seem to have the forte to bring out the best in them and get them to play consistantly good. He seems to be a decent and honest individual with an air of dignity but that doesn't always mean he's a winner in the team performence. His spells as caretaker manager in the Premier league did not enhance his managerial ambitions and I have to believe that Ashley saw him as yes man and a whipping boy if things got worse. I like Hughton as a person but I don't think he is the man for our future.
  8. Dearie me Stevie, you mean you don't have an interest in a second club? my oh my. My second club of interest is Sunderland. Yes Stevie, Sunderland, I always check to see if they got beat and I'm at my happiest if they lose and Newcastle wins regardless of league status. (I am wearing my tin-hat as I feel sure there will be another verbal bombardment from my dear friend Stevie)
  9. With how much I know about Butt's ability to tackle and his experience as a defensive midfielder, and how little I know about Pancrate's capabilities to defend, then yes I would choose Butt before Pancrate. Truth of the matter is..........had it been upto me I would have gone to 3 at the back and 5 across the middle.
  10. You do talk some shit like. Look this fella is in his 70s he's still interested in NUFC despite deserting his country 40 years ago, he's seen players who died before you were even born, so have some respect eh? 50 years ago mate and I didn't desert my country, I was just looking for a place in the sunhine that wasn't to be found at home. 50 years away and still a British citizen, haven't yet and never will become an American citizen.
  11. Obviously you're sat in America, (TRUE, at me computer).....and were brought up on people like Len White and the likes,(TRUE, and some before him) .....you have no intention of leaving that state the yank bullies took off the Mexicans((TRUE maybe NOT TRUE, I might come home to die) ...........but I tell you what it is, your summary of the game is like you were stood on the edge of the touchline.(I WISH, but I was sat at me computer listening to the match commentary on BBC Tyne courtesy of UStream).
  12. An article in the Chronicle by Lee Ryder said that Hughton was toying with the idea of playing Tavernor at the back but he wasn't even on the bench. Also mentioned that Donaldson was another option yet he went with Pancrate?? I noticed that Butt was on the bench so he had to be in condition to be called upon in an emergency, surely he would have fit the defender role more than Pancrate??
  13. Another 3 points ........BRILLIANT. Another poor game .....DISGUSTING. Has Hughton gone mad? Pancreas on for Enrique. According to the commentary new boy Williamson had a decent game as did Routledge for the time he was on.
  14. I'd plump for Lovenkrands up front with Carroll.
  15. What's the point in having a 'reserve' team if they are not in reserve, full of players hoping to break into the first team by their performence or injury to a first team player. Who plays at right back for the reserve team on a regular basis and is he any good. I've seen too much chopping and changing and playing people out of position.
  16. The FA Cup has all the glamour, ending in a gala-like spectacle at Wembley, totally unlike the trench-like warfare of league-play where the winner can be established before the league season is even finished, and there is no gala-like ending at Wembley. I know well of Cup glory 1950-55, I was 18 when we won the Cup in 1950, and I know of the Cup humiliations like Hereford United, but I think what you are reading in this topic are comments from folk who are desparate to regain a position in the Premier League and would sacrifice Cup glamour & glory, and prefer that to be the only target to aim for .....and I am one of them. I was disappointed we lost but at the same time glad, for now promotion is the only thing in the sights and there will be no distractions other than injuries......fewer games-fewer injuries.
  17. Well we did beat them 5-0 on cards didn't we. Another disappointment but to me not an unexpected one and it may turn out to be better for us now there is nothing left to play for except promotion back to the Premier League, ....... which of late has been a bit wobbly with the draws and dropping points. Again the radio commentary gave the impression we were crap in the first half then had a new lease on life in the second but sadly to no avail.
  18. From what I can gather he signed for Portsmouth in September last year for 2 million and has not played a game yet. Most of his playing has been for Wycombe Wanderers.
  19. Let me make this perfectly clear once and for all. I have never asked you for anything. I have never criticised the Halls and Shepherd. I have asked you to prove the lies you post about me and you have miserably failed to do so. I have suggested you seek help as you are obviously a mentally sick person. I have difficulty understanding what this latest inane post of yours has to do with this Newcastle v West Brom topic. I have high hopes that you will seek help as someone in your condition certainly needs help.
  20. I have to question Hughton's mind-set in leaving Amoeba in so long as his contribution to the game was less than unsatisfactory. I've always had a cause for concern about defenders not moving towards attacking opponents and their second goal was mostly the result of Taylor back-pedalling and allowing their man to get into the box. Jockying is one thing back-pedalling is another. Our defence have lately been getting raves but they fell short today. The Baggies played better football overall and I think we were lucky to get a point.
  21. Spot on...must win game...really see what where made of tonight. I am feeling confident though. Thing that concerns me is that history shows we do not have a good track record of winning in must-win clutch situations. I just hope we pull this one off.
  22. Judging by the radio commentators Enrique & Jonas were on fire down the left side but the right side of Pancreas & Raylor was a bit of a damp squib. Carroll seemed to missing ones he should have put away. Be interesting to see who Hughton starts up front against West Brom, surely he can't drop Lovenhim.
  23. Wasn't too worried about this match win or lose, but it is a little depressing when we can't beat teams in the bottom three, and to not score against Plymouth ............well.
  24. Simple as what Peasepud? What's been seen of Kadar hasn't been all bad and perhaps him and Taylor could form a steady partnership if given a chance. Thing is, Colo could just as well get injured and I'd hate to think we'd be screwed in either case. losers attitude. Its obvious you grew up in the 1960's and 70's when we sold our good players. No wonder you didn't appreciate the Halls and Shepherd. He has been good at this lower level but to suggest you should take the money because you have an uproven kid who has shown little so far on the sidelines is bollocks. You must be responding to Peasepud's post LeazesMag cos I grew up in the 30's, 40's, & 50's, oooh so long ago, born December 1932, 21 years old in December 1953, just turned 77. no, I'm responding to you, because you went through the Westwood, McKeag eras like me and slated the Halls and Shepherd, which I have always found to be hugely unbelievable. I told you at the time that your attitude was shit and a losers attitude and it should be obvious by now to most people that despite their faults we had good ambitious directors who did their best to put this club at the level it ought to be, the only people that have done this in 50 years. You still don't get it do you What I do still get is that you are nothing more than what I once said you were and you still are; ..... a pedantic, egotistical, self-agrandizing, self-conceited, self-delusional, self-important, self-proclaimed middle aged bastard who doesn't seem to realize how obnoxious you can be on occasion. I'm also a real supporter of this football during all the eras mentioned and as such know a fuckin damn sight more than you do about it which is why I told you what an arse you were when you slated the Halls and Shepherd for giving us the only 15 years out of the last 50 competing at the levels that we should. You know what LeazesMag, your pedantic egoism is often overwhelmed by your crass stupidity. Here's what I want you to do to prove your accusation that I slated the Halls & Shepherd and is in fact a documented posting on the forum. I want you to search the archives, find the truth of your accusation, and post it for all the members to see. When you have done this I will apologize and bow to your infinite knowledge, memory, & wisdom, even grovel for forgiveness. If you do not do this I will continue to maintain that you are indeed exactly the pedantic "self" person I believe you to be. I'm waiting. we most definitely had the league in our sights during the Halls and Shepherd era and more than once brought in the players wanted. You obviously missed it, as I've often told you http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?...mp;#entry189294 and these 2 which clearly show your mistaken attempts to class qualifying for europe regularly and buying the players to do it as "mediocrity". What do you think now ? Don't bother telling us, Ashley has given you what you were crying out for. http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?...mp;#entry261347 http://www.toontastic.net/board/index.php?...mp;#entry280605 Huh! surely this can't be the proof to verify your accusation that I slated the Halls & Shepherd, Seems to me you were my target, not John & Freddie. Seems like you still need help. you're not thickmick from Newcastle Online by any chance are you Aha! typical LeazesMag, can't back up his rubbish statements when he needs to so he squirrels away holding his nuts. I'm still waiting. you ARE thickmick. He used to be in a constant state of self denial too. Edit: Noelie/thickmick.........do you or do you not accept that, despite your earlier claims, that in seasons 1995-96 and in seasons 1996-7 particularly, we bought the players that the manager wanted and we had the title firmly in our sights ? Do you also accept or not accept that the team under Bobby Robson that finished 3rd, was actually top of the league at one stage and had a real chance of winning the title until Craig Bellamy was injured when in 2nd place with 7 games left. Do you also accept or not accept that for the 15 years when the Halls and Shepherd ran the club, they firmly backed all their managers and had genuine ambition to win trophies and finish in as high a position as possible and play in europe as regularly as possible by bringing the best players possible to the club ? Deny this, and you ARE in a state of self denial. Because you ARE claiming none of this happened. Apology accepted and good night to you. You are so stupid LeazesMag you really do need therapy. What has all this latest garbage got to do with confirming your accusation that I slated the Halls & Shepherd.? What's all this denial & acceptance about, and now your accusation that I'm claiming none of what you are claiming happened. You need to prove that too. You really should seek help before it's too late. Apology accepted eh.? Where on earth did you get some stupid idea that I had apologized to you for anything? I actually do feel sorry for you though, it pains me when it's obvious someone has lost or is losing their marbles.
