The BBC's live coverage of the Championship campaign will start with Newcastle United's opening-day trip to West Bromwich Albion on 8 August. The BBC will show 10 live Championship games during the 2009/10 season and has announced details of the first four. The second will be Ipswich's home match against Newcastle on 26 September followed by Queens Park Rangers' trip to Derby on 24 October. Cardiff's home match against Nottingham Forest on 1 November will also be live. The match between the Baggies and Newcastle will be shown live on BBC One at 1730 BST. Both clubs were relegated from the Premier League last season and then experienced managerial uncertainty. Tony Mowbray recently left West Brom for Scottish Premier League side Celtic but former Chelsea midfielder Roberto Di Matteo, who guided Milton Keynes Dons to the League One play-offs in May, has now taken over as head coach at the Hawthorns. However, no firm decision has been made regarding the future of Alan Shearer at Newcastle. Shearer was in charge of the Magpies for the final eight games of last season and held talks with owner Mike Ashley about extending his stay but no decision has been reached. The Ipswich versus Newcastle also takes place at 1730 BST, although the channel has yet to be confirmed. Derby against QPR starts at 1730 BST but will be shown on BBC Two, while Cardiff versus Forest will be shown on BBC One, kick-off 1400 GMT. These matches will also be streamed live on this website (for UK users only) and all the goals from every game in the Football League, Carling Cup and Johnstone's Paint Trophy will be shown on the BBC website in the UK.

An example of why I don't get on with my sisters...
Scottish Mag replied to The Fish's topic in General Chat
I want you to imagine something; you're a 29yr old 20+ Stone woman. The tube chairs are too small for you, the heat and still air is making you sweat and feel faint. You have to squeeze through turnstiles that everyone else is breezing through. You can't move quickly and everyone around you is in a rush. People have to shove past you on the escalator. Probably prefer to get a cab... wouldn't you? I love the way you always come on here living your fatty days through your "sister" -

Too late I think, this chap was spotted outside the reception taking pictures, I think he has sold them to Hello! for $30,000 Ugandan Dollars. Tell me someone had a pic of him. I seen him as everyone was taking pics but thought I may have been the only one that had noticed him..

Thank you all for the kinds words. And thank you to the cliquetastic crowd that were up for an amazing day. The telegram from Shearer was quality but was really surprised by the signed shirt from him and the team (shame most of them won't be here next week) I had the band play an amazing version of Local Hero that had a few faces from off here smiling. I have a bag to pack now so Adios Amigos...

Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley appears to have delivered another snub to Alan Shearer by shelving plans for a statue of the former club captain outside St James' Park The project to build £65,000-a-piece bronze statues of Shearer and legendary striker Jackie Milburn was commissioned by former chairman Freddy Shepherd but Ashley has not realised his dreams since taking over the club two years ago. That is the latest embarrassment for the club that was relegated after Ashley brought Shearer in as interim manager late last season and is now managerless after the sports retail tycoon went cold on the idea of appointing the former England skipper on a long-term basis. The Morpeth-based sculptor Tom Maley was given the go-ahead to make the eight-foot high statues of the club's favourite footballing sons in 2007 and they seemed destined to take their place outside the main entrance to St James' Park on Barrack Road. But then Sir John Hall stole his family stake in the club to Sports Direct founder Ashley who then ousted Shepherd from the corridors of power and the plans for the statues - " called Local Heroes – were effectively dropped to the dismay of the Milburn family. Maley, who built another statue of Milburn in Newcastle during the mid-90s as well as an eight-feet tall statue of the former Middlesbrough skipper Wilf Mannion outside the Riverside, was aiming to do something similar at their North-East neighbours. He liaised closely with Shearer following his retirement from playing football as well as the Milburn family as he developed prototype figurines in a process that lasted months. But now Maley is in the dark over the future of the initiative and with Ashley now trying desperately to sell the club he believes only the possible return of Shepherd will kick-start the project. "Shearer and Milburn are arguably the greatest players the club has ever produced, and the idea was to symbolise Milburn transferring the mantle of genius over the years," Maley said: "I don't envisage the thing going forward now. I did send the club a message, but I haven't heard anything back. "I spoke to Shearer about the two statues months ago and he was the same as me: â What's happening?' "Freddy was the one who kicked it off. If he comes back into the fold, I' d be able to speak to him." Jack Milburn junior expressed his family's disappointment at the stalling of the scheme. "I haven't spoken to Tom Maley for a long time now," Milburn said. "It could have been scrapped altogether. "I suppose there must be more important things going on at the club at the moment. "It's a shame because the prototypes are amazing, but it seems like it's not going to happen." Shearer secured his place in Tyneside folklore by striking his 201st goal in 394 Newcastle games in February, 2006, to break Jackie Milburn's 49-year record. Despite Shearer and Milburn's standing locally, club officials are remaining tight-lipped with a spokesman merely stating: "The club is unable to comment at the present time." Meanwhile, it has emerged that Newcastle managing-director Derek Llambias, who runs the club for Ashley, has been largely based in London since the club was relegated three weeks ago. http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/...an-Shearer.html

Championship winners in first season. Managed to get Gary Lineker at the end of January from Grampus 8 to play up front, but my main stars were 18 year olds Roberto Carlos and Rivaldo

To be fair all but 1 came against Andorra, Kazakhstan, Slovakia and Belarus. Don't get me wrong I rate Rooney. Hes a good player, infact a very good player, I just don't think hes quite lived up to the billing of being up their with the likes of Kaka, Messi and Ronaldo especially when a few years ago the many of the media were often refering to him as THE best player in the World.

Fat Sam linked with Butt, Smith and Nolan

If Fat Feddie came back he would have people to answer to. There are backers who are stumping up the finances for this bid and we will have them to answer to and be accountable for any actions. He will not get away with taking money out of the club the way he has in the past and I am pretty sure if he comes back as Chairman and is doing a poor job, those with the moolah will not deal with this.
