  1. In Porno by Irvine Welsh, the main characters raid a load of bank accounts in Glasgow by getting an insider at the bank and "guessing" that loads of people would have 1690 for their PIN which works. Thought it was canny satire.
  2. You will qualify if you can show that: * you are a Commonwealth citizen * you are aged 17 or over * you have a grandparent who was born in the UK, the Channel Islands or the Isle of Man (see note below) * you have a grandparent who was born in what is now the Republic of Ireland before 31 March 1922 (see note below) * you are able to work and intend to do so in the UK, and * you can support yourself and any dependants without needing any help from public funds. As it happens I had, but what a bollocks law. They spent 30 years bombing us, what have they got to do with us and our immigration laws, disgraceful. Before that date Ireland was effectively part of the UK. (And without wanting to be called a terrorist sympathasier, that 30 years has to be considered within a context of 400 years of typically British rule).
  3. Crime - the only thing Scousers actually know anything about.

Another vote for Burtree her. I know there are some diabolical places which market themselves as holiday destinations but Birtley?
  5. Obviously with sympathy to MF.... I'd never thought of Fist's "let him out to suffer" angle and think it makes a kind of sense - I'd guess after 20 years inside that life does become "easy" to an extent and the change of release is another phase in the price if it does lead to misery - and I'd say Venables lends weight to that argument.
  6. I know its a bit different in the squad number era and we've been lucky going back as far as Quinn but prior to that we had some absolute shite wearing the number 9 so Carroll shouldn't be scared really.

I love the way "The Beatles" is supposed to somehow be the ultimate trump card - not everybody liked the cunts.
  8. Isn't that just treating the symptoms and not the underlying cause though? I know that's a legitimate strategy in medicine (see cold treatments) but I wonder whether its less appropriate for mental problems.

I see the addition of Cole to Torres and Gerrard as the beginning of a planetary alignment of cheats. A couple more of that magnitude along with the red shirt factor and Liverpool's history and I think an apocalypse in imminent.
  10. Peter Beardsley? (not for a moment over the hill but decidely dodgy on an age basis)
  11. Connect using the composite leads then go into setup on the blu-ray player - I'm guessing there will be a "video output" setting which should have HDMI.
  12. That's my view and I don't see why Rob should get abuse just for pissing against the wind either.
  13. Babylon AD One of those infinitely frustrating films where the premise is interesting but the result is extremely disappointing given that premise.
  14. The Hillsborough that wasn't. I also remember it as being the first time I went to Spurs that wasn't dodgy as fuck - the numbers helped but there was a "quality" factor in our support as well that made it different.
  15. Lisa Edelstein and Victoria Coren are once again NOWHERE FUCKING NEAR BORDERLINE. This thread either needs separating into threads for generally fit birds/ mature birds still well worth one/ borderline boilers if it is to have any future. And Kevin - fuck off.
  16. Yeah he had an alternative option at RBS. Barclays are hiring shit loads as well. I was at Barclays for 6 years - they still have ambitions to be a global player and to be fair BARCAP are the darlings at the moment. That's the branch that's doing the mass hiring - our production manager is off there and the lad who's leaving had an interview there as well.

  18. Where are you going and have they got any IT jobs going? HSBC. I think they use external IT. My colleague has handed his notice in today - off to Lloyds - that takes my department down to 2. I might start looking seriously now or hold out until November when I'll have 7 years for redundancy purposes - however I'm a bit concerned all the cuts fallout will flood the market with job seekers so it might be best to go now.
  19. And the "competitive advantage" could be something worse than malaria...
  20. Where are you going and have they got any IT jobs going?
  21. I have no reason to back Stevie up for the sake of it - as I said saying that goes against what I've been saying in terms of Spurs Vs Chelsea.
  22. I can confirm they did - in fact that was the largest non North East following I've ever seen for a league game. (I realise this goes aginst my earlier position to an extent but the truth matters).
  23. Well after 71, Arsenal did nowt until the late 80s - they were still a top club though.
  24. I know those figures are skewed in exactly the way you describe but I still think they show a "big" club and not one that can be dismissed as easily as to seem to. Spurs also have the first double landmark and I would repeat that certainly as far as I can remember from the 70s onwards were always a top club - moreso than Chelsea. I remember when talk of a breakaway league started before the premier league where they were one of the instigators. I don't get your point about Chelsea knocking on the door - they certainly never challenged for the league in the way we did though under Bates they were obviously improved from previously - much like ourselves though I would say not as much. I'm not some closet Yid btw - when asked which London club I hate the most I usually say whoever we're playing at the time but if you asked me for an instinctive answer I'd say Spurs.
  25. How? In what way? If you're in any country in the world ask a local who Chelsea is and they'll know straight away. They might know Tottenham but its unlikely. Chelsea are league champions one of the richest and most desirable clubs in the world, and Tottenham haven't even come close to winning the league for 50 years based in a hovel in North London. They've won a few FA Cups yes, 8 is it?, Chelsea have won 3 in the last 4 years. It's not even an argument. Tradition, history, fanbase (I think you underestimate them hugely - they are one of the clubs with a higher average than ours). The last time I was "put right" about history by a Yid they had 14 trophies and I think they've won a couple since then. Before Abramovitch Chelsea had a poor history - one league title and 2 or 3 cups - I recognise your opinion is more "current" but as more of a traditionalist I still think Spurs are bigger.
