  1. All of them since the Rowell hat-trick game in 79 except the 96-97 Joker lockout. 4 Home defeats including the play-off and one defeat at their place.
  2. South Shields raised and Sunderland to the bone. Yeah - I could mention Gordon Armstrong - Newcastle born and Sunderland to the bone. The brother in law himself is actually one of these weird people who don't support a team - though he is a canny player.
  3. A mate of a mate who I know is Nick Pickering's wife's brother.
  4. Was in a car and I think we were the only 4 people who saw no bother that night - utter scum.
  5. Spurs First time I went to Hillsborough 80/81 Not at the match but after PSV in 97, went back to Amsterdam and managed do walk though 2 gangs of black lads having a serious fight. Belgrade in 98 was decidedly dodgy.
  6. I'd add my voice to those saying Boumsong was a decent player wholly unsuited to the English game - still has to count as a flop though.
  7. I remember Tommy Smith bleating on about his celebration saying it could have caused a riot - that was the whole point you crippled scouse cunt
  8. He signed with two games left of the year but couldn't play as it was after the then deadline and we were due to play teams still in relegation trouble who wouldn't allow him to play. At the start of the next season I think he only played about 6 or 7 - certainly not 20 and was offered a get out to go home. The probem was we had him and John Hendrie up front and the newly signed Beasant couldn't stop banging the ball up to them Wimbledon style - I can remember who the midfield was (Bogie?) but they didn't help. Basically the old board + McFaul took the easy way out in sending him back. That's right because we asked West Ham if he could play against them it was April when we signed him. Bogie was wank, but he played more than 6 games easily 20 in all competitions I would say, and we weren't all long ball, we played well when we won at Anfield, and that first half against Spurs was the best I'd seen in ages. The thing is as well, long ball WAS the Scottish game, with dodgier elbows and tackles flying about than anywhere. The fact is with that sort of record he was a major flop. According to Wiki he made 12 appearances - so we were both right/wrong That win at Anfield is probably my favourite non-mackem victory - it was still when nobody won there. It wasn't just the long ball - it was the fact we had nobody to win it and/or hold it up.

  10. The stupid thing is, when Marcelino actually did play, he looked not half bad. Going a bit old school at the start: John Robertson John Ryan Mark Robinson Guivarch Luque
  11. I don't mind their anti-Ashley stance per se and in the light of the possibility of an extended stay keeping up the pressure on him but the statements they've released have been crass to say the least.

    Coldplay

American Idiot is a fantastic album - Warning not so much but still reasonable.

    Iceland

Trouble is Iceland is probably the size of a large corporation in terms of "turnover" but they've got carried away with credit and trying to be a player beyond their means. Banking is all a house of cards - the stupid thing is nothings really changed apart from confidence - the US government should have taken on the bad debt a lot earlier and converted the loans to rent.
  14. So what would make January different from the last 3 windows?
  15. Watched the first 2 eps of Eli Stone tonight - enjoyed it but it fell short of unmissable in the future.
  16. The link doesn't work but mine was Ollie Burtons Testamonial Vs the Mackems in May 1973 - we won 2-1 - both scored by John Tudor.
  17. I don't care how long they've been doing FGM - it's fucking evil and I have the right to say so. If Muslim clerics say that western women are whores they have the right to say so - where did I say they didn't? They also have the right to be offended by The Satanic Verses - however if they threaten to kill the author then I have the right to object. There are certain aspects of morality which are pretty universal - I would like to think that mutiliating or murdering your daughters or pimping them out when they are pre-pubescent would be ones we could all agree with - if people don't then I have the right to condemn their culture as rotten.
  18. Our putting it this way we should have the absolute right to offend even if we're too polite to do so.
  19. Don't agree - All ideas and especially from my pov religions are there to be questioned, derided and if necessary attacked. The limit should be incitement which is covered by law - but then again I could make a good case for prosecution of the publishers of the bible and the koran for incitement to racial hatred but I'd guess it would be thrown out because of over-respect.
  20. Why is one domesticated animal off the menu while others aren't? They may have been "created" by man for slightly different purposes but the mechanism is the same.
  21. Yep good old fashioned invasion on a blazing hot day - what football used to be all about - supermarkets emptied of beer to be supped on river banks. (We did play them in the cup about 6 years ago which was another good day out on a smaller scale)
  22. I assume you're referring to Ashley and Joe? Yeah sorry - the cheat brothers as I think of them.
  23. Being a bitter twat I'd like to see Keane leave SAFC. I'd also like to see one of the fuckers I really hate like Gerrard, Lampard or either Cole get a bad injury.
  24. Isn't satire supposed to mock the truth and not just state it?
  25. Wouldn't she have been Welsh though - what's that in sheep years? (As I said at a push puberty is "acceptable" - certainly more so than 9).
