I agree - they had a "ruthless bastard" approach to away games which I liked (and hoped Allardyce would bring) but on top of that their home approach was excellent. I remember my ideal being Dalglish making Keegan's team into ruthless bastards - it worked in his honeymoon period but then he stupidly decided he wanted "his own team".

Total bollox that like. It's the performances/decisions which were booed. The fans want to see a team play to win. If they lose that's okay as long as they were trying to win. Ah right. So if we have 30 shots at Derby and lose 2-0 we wouldn't be booed? Bollocks. Just joke-fans thinking we should beat everybody we play. I wouldn't say it was a majority, but a sizable percentage. I doubt we've had more than 30 decent shots this season - thats the core issue. Also I remember years ago whinging to my my Dad about Emlyn Hughes saying that Liverpool should beat everyone and win everything - "Whats wrong with that?" was his comment.

Hang on If you can't take it, don't give it.

Ah the casual racism of the musically tasteless.
-
"Brutality" Especially the "small-town mentality" jibe. Bit harsh on Cacapa and Enrique though
-
I'd also add that the press speculation reflects their view of us as a "big but not that big" club - its up to Ashley to hold two fingers up to them on that score as well.
-
Taking into account Ashley's ambition of PL/CL titles, appointing the Redknapp brigade would seem to be nonsense - in the context of what he wants from the club in terms of success/return on investment he has to be going for someone stupid. That's my optimistic angle.
-
Yeah good piece - my only comment is that he never explained what this "5 year/long term plan" was so I have doubts it existed.
-
In the cold light of day my "they must have someone lined up" optimism of last night has been replaced by Shepherdesque deja vu.
-
I've gone the other way - initial delight is now tempered by what looks like lack of lined up replacement. Please God not another trawl through mediocre British managers before settling. I hope the Redknapp thing is people taking the "british" remark and making 2+2 = 5
-
Statements about "taking time" and "proper channels" etc. As I said I hope its a bluff.
-
I never had you down as delusional! I'll try to kid myself as well. The decisions looks rather hasty considering the circumstances - Allardyce looking still very much in the job at 5pm. So they probably were working/sounding out things behind the scenes and got clear signals to be able to move for a top man they really want thus acting and now moving to tie things up through "the right channels". But then - this is Newcastle. We don't do "planning", we only do laughing stocks... I'd add the stuff about Ashley wanting the title within 5 years into the delusional mix - sure that rules out nearly all the desperate fuckers?
-
I'd echo that statement. Have you forgotten starting an Official Allardyce Out thread about a month ago? Allardyce gets the shit for not playing the team you wanted him too, and now the Chairman gets it for not sacking him the way you wanted him to. My bile was aimed at getting Ashley to act in both ways - as I said a better replacement is the ideal.
-
I work with a Blackburn fan who reckons its common knowledge he's being groomed for Man U.
-
Haven't read the thread as I only found out 5 mins ago and just want to type randomly. This seems strange after what looked like genuine backing - my hope is that that means they have someone worth doing something as daft as this for. Yes, despite my vehement anti-Allardyce stance I think sacking now with nobody lined up is worse than waiting out the season. I heard the "british" comment on SSN and cringed as I thought of McLaren, Moyes, Redknapp, Strachan and Bruce - hope this is a smokescreen.
-
My mistake was probably a timing issue then - from 1980 onwards I was going to away games every other saturday and had discovered pre-match drinking for home games
-
Was that called O.T.T? Yeah they had a lass who was meant to get them out but they kept it going for weeks because she didn't have an equity card. Kept the world enthralled - how times have changed.
-
Oh Yes!!
-
I agree but didn't mind the split - I never had any interest in reading about how shit their actual team is.
-
I'm pretty sure that it didn't appear until very late in its run if it did - I remember going to an away game in Bristol which was overnight job in about 1980 where people saw it for the first time on local tv there. I could be wrong of course - were you not thinking of the adult version on saturday night with Tarrant?

Shit TV for 13 year old american virgins? Fish im disappointed Remarks like that persuade me that Wacky's opinion of you is correct. Only Babylon 5 has ever bettered Angel in TV terms. Pisstake shirley? Not in my opinion - name something better.
-
What I find funny is how the blatant pisstaking they did over Titus and Dyer when the hotel roast/rape thing was on has now come back to haunt them.
