I was also thinking of a subscription but they're absolutely taking the piss with the price of it. I presume they make more money off adverts. But either way you’d think they’d get easily more than double the subscribers if they charged half the price

So you're getting ad-free YouTube plus YouTube Music. I pay 20 a month for a family subscription so the missus gets both as well. Obviously any kids could have the same. We've got family Spotify and I'm not even going to attempt to persuade the wife and daughters to swap it for YouTube. (I presume you can download playlists for offline?) (I presume you can download playlists for offline?) Aye it basically does everything Spotify does. I've been using it for years now so couldn't speak to how much better/worse it is than Spotify. There's services you can use to convert all your Spotify playlists over to YT music in seconds. Although obviously YouTube has all its own curated playlists plus the user versions.
Gemmill 52223
Do the kids watch YouTube? See if you can't persuade them that the trade off of ad free YouTube makes it worth it. Then you can all gang up on your wife if she's not arsed about YouTube.

Alex 37692
YouTube music has loads of obscure dance stuff from years back. Not available to stream on the likes of Apple. If that’s your thing it’s something to consider. Presumably because the label has folded so no one owns the rights and/or any existing copies aren’t high enough quality. So it’s just stuff where people have uploaded a recording of their vinyl copy or whatever

Meenzer 16777
As you can probably imagine, the same is true for losing entries in 1970s Yugoslav Eurovision preselections. 😁 I'd probably struggle to leave Spotify behind, familiarity and all that. We've had a YouTube Premium trial for the last month and not being interrupted by ads is very nice though...

Ayatollah Hermione 15031
I paid for YouTube Premium and I can’t go back. You’re basically paying to make YouTube go back to how it was 15 years ago but the ads are so ubiquitous now that it’s beyond a joke. You pause a video and it’s popping an advert up ffs

Make of that what you will I’ve just looked them up, and they were aged 15-17 when they recorded that. They also had a pathological hatred for greyhounds and made it their life’s work to wind the crazy bastards up. One of the above statements is true. Gemmill 52223 Posted Sunday at 07:23 Share Posted Sunday at 07:23 @spongebob toonpants @PaddockLad There's a podcast called Empire which has just ran a short series of episodes covering The Troubles. The bloke they've had on to talk about it is Patrick Radden Keefe, who wrote Say Nothing, so it's basically been a fleshing out of that story. I think it's episodes 241 through 245, or S16 E11-15 depending on how it appears in your podcast app of choice. Well worth a listen. 2

Yes I’d read the book a while ago but hadn’t realised it had been dramatised till I listened to Ireland episodes on the pod. Myself and the now semi permanent Mrs PL are going to the Empire live show at the beginning of June in Bristol, and the night after we’re going to a talk by “friend of the pod” and top Gateshead native David Olusogga in Frome which is sort of on the way home from Bristol 😎 Edited Sunday at 09:03 by PaddockLad
