I heard him on five live with curbishley and Strachan (all out of work). I think this has been old flabberchops unable to control himself. Listening to it on the BBC website, he's clearly trying to big himself up with that statement, then realises he's painted himself into a (IFO fictitious) corner as the reporters see a big story and press him on it, and he then tries to stumble his way out of it (for someone that lies so much he's at it). On the other hand we may well having him as manager in 3 months as the layers of lie upon lie coming from NUFC in the last few years means nothing is certain. I remember reading somewhere that one of the giveaways for lying is that the person will keep looking off to their upper left, something to do with how the brain works when telling falsehoods unless an effort is made to control it. Still, it wouldn't have surprised me if it had been true, Ashley's trying his hardest to not only ruin us but also upset as many of the fans as much as possible in the process.
