Given the proportion of muslim families who call their sons Mohammed (whichever spelling it is) compared to the apparent desire for individuality in other sects of society, it's hardly a surprising (or damning)stat.

Behave yourself man Wacky, this "survey" doesn't come close to giving you an idea of the numbers involved. Also, does it matter what a parent calls his kid? It's what the lad grows up to be, not what he's called.

I thought in Muslim culture they tend to have a few names, so the individuality may be expressed in a 2nd name or some such.

 

Like a Christening name, or confirmation name in Christianity.

 

Either way I imagine the majority of people in the UK give their babies daft names anyway like Mercedes or Halfsquat, so getting a couple to match might be difficult.
