He's gone into overdrive recently, and sadly it's prompted self-examination amongst some quality posters, with: 'why do I post here?' becoming the all too common refrain. Well for me, posts like that from KSA (amongst others) are why it's worth putting up with the old dickhead. You have to laugh at him. He posts utter, non stop and endless shite but there are always magnificently entertaining posters on hand to send it up for the bollocks it is.

A quick look back shows that under the old board we didn't progress in terms of league position for more than 2 seasons in a row, after that we stayed still or fell away spectacularly.

we've bought 25m quid worth of players for 25m quid. I don't get you at all here. There is plenty of money left to attempt to go higher. Are you happy with 5th, is this your ultimate, or do you not agree that we could and should attempt to go higher ? Who says these players are worth more ? Who are they worth more to ? I realise there are some people on this forum who are happy with 5th and think its the ultimate [obviously not the same people who booed the team the last time we only came 5th mind] but they appear to be largely non-matchgoers.

 

Seriously, as it has taken 5 years for some people to claim that I am wrong what is the problem with the reverse of this scenario ?

 

Fact is, it won't take 5 years for the club to go backwards from what is now its peak under the current approach, if they want to "progress" they will have to change it. My view is that they will not change their approach. It won't take 5 years for the club to start selling their best players for monetary reasons and the luck to run out, and despite what you are saying, I suspect you know this, like a few others who won't admit it either.

 

The majority will think its possible to move on while selling your best players and witholding the money from the manager and not backing him though. Hilarious.

Forest ? We are twice the club forest are, or were. That sums up the lower expectations in a nutshell. We aren't "taking on one of the big boys" man, we ARE one of the big boys, if we act like we should.

how many had better incomes when your man bought the club ? How did we compete and get above a club backed by a sugar daddy on numerous occasions, and buy their best player ? Don't tell me, he was a "trophy signing"

 

Forest won the league, and the European Cup, because they had a brilliant, one off manager and an equally brilliant one off assistant. Who bought quality players, irrespective of the fee to the club. because they were backed by their board of directors. It was fuck all to do with them being a "big club", because they never have been, and never will, match the support and commercial appeal of what NUFC ought to be.

LM's argument essentially scans:

 

In seasons when you've got 'surplus' cash from a transfer deal - base every single argument on strong income levels and advocate spending literally every last penny of it on replacements otherwise you're not progressive.

 

In seasons when you're in massive debt because your outgoings are far greater than your incomings - completely ignore any arguments about your inadequate income levels (income is of no consequence when the turnover is 14th highest in football you imbeciles) and keep spending money regardless of where its from (the club are one of the big boys and any bank manager will accept this statement as security for further loans).

 

In absolutely all scenarios, bang on endlessly about potential and size of the club as this automatically levels the playing field with bigger (Man U, Liverpool, Arse) or bankrolled (City, Chelsea) clubs and once again bank managers will accept this statement as security for further loans. Attack anyone who's not utterly won over by this sustainable vision for refinancing the club as: "Ashley apologists", "happy to compete with Bolton" and "utter chums"

 

Repeat ad nauseum.

 

He basically just needs to come out and say what he's always wanted to say which is that he wants the club bankrolled again to play casino football with Chelsea and City. Nowt wrong with that as a statement of desire, I'm sure most people would like Messi here, but at the end of the day thats all it is. He hasn't, as he seems to think, underpinned it with rational argument nor has he put forward anything approaching a blueprint for doing it off the clubs natural resources. Quite the opposite. Basically, Leazes sees progress and ambition as simply spending a load of money instead of actually making progress. Newcastle have been doing the latter without the former and it rubs up against him because it's not his viewpoint. That was a serious question. What do you want me to say ? it's a fact that Gemmill does nothing other than make juvenile comments in response to me, so don't bother blaming me for his comments and replies.
