The retro shirt market isn't that difficult to get right given there's plenty of genuine examples still out there.

In the Ashley era they did a remake of the 87-90 home shirt complete with cuffs on the sleeves that never existed! I also hate (but understand why) they don't have the manufacturers logos on them. They were very much a part of the shirt design for me.

Funny enough I noticed score draw had umbro as well as bukta logos on some of their retro shirts for some teams but even then, they'd put it on one shirt but not another of the same manufacturer which was odd. Also the club wasn't having their current shirts done by umbro so I've no idea what the score was unless Everton and Villa for example agreed to a deal with whoever owns umbro to allow the odd shirt to have them on? (The mackems had an umbro shirt as well despite not being with them). It boiled my piss that we didn't have any.

Glad it's not just me. It's a minor detail, but a very important one!

I did buy a couple of umbro logos on eBay and put them on a couple of shirts for authenticity but it's a pain and not guaranteed to work. Looks better than without.

I mean that’s geeky as fuck, that’s up there with Trekkers arguing about the authenticity of their cos play uniforms.

Completely agree but for about £4 and getting the iron out for five minutes it looked a lot better instead of having something missing on one side of the shirt. :good:

I've ended up buying the re-release grandad shirt £70 reduced from £90 in JD, also got the tracksuit top after trying it on and it looking the business, the lass saved me £10 by advising me to order it in the shop for free delivery and there being £10 off for doing it that way some reason? (So £90 instead of £100). The tracksuit top can be put away for a Christmas present because they always moan they don't know what to get me.

Thinking of ordering the 1986 England shirt with 20 on the back given it was that tournament, and specifically Beardsley, that got me into football.

Question for you shirt aficionados - they're offering the number in either 'Felt Vinyl' or 'Heat Press Vinyl'. I'm thinking the former is likely to be closer to authentic?

I'd say don't bother with a number unless you have to but would imagine felt to be better? When you see modern shirts with names and numbers on they seem very shiny and I think, (just a feeling from seeing them) that they won't last as long?
