Thing is...

Is it good that Boris is going - something is wrong with the UK voting system and I genuinely fear that Boris going means another Tory GE win. People have VERY short term memories and twist history very easily.

We only need to look as far back as what people are saying about the Covid pandemic to see that.  The opposition calling out in PMQ's back in April 2020 that we were not following WHO advice and that we needed to have a test and trace system working BEFORE lifting the first lockdown , was turned into they've only ever moaned and never said what they would do. They were saying it very clearly.

It'll be the same sort of deflectionist bollox that we get with Asprilla just above and everything will be forgotten.

Damn all these plebs eh!!?

It’s very unlikely that the public are going to look at Kier Starmer and his band of misfits and think, yeah! They’ll do a MUCH better job of running the country.

Boris has a great track record of winning elections. He’s a shambles of a man and yet people vote for him.

This may be his undoing but the Tories will be very aware that winning elections is the name of the game and he’s good at it. They may try and ride it out.

Especially if Omicron is basically the last of covid and people want to move on mentally.

But if he does go there’s a reasonable chance that there will either be another woman (the Tory’s third) or a person from a BAME background leading the party.

Could be a strong narrative going into a general election.

He's also the cunt who lied repeatedly while trying (and failing) to close down the local A&E here, and I'd still take him over most of the other realistic candidates, which says a hell of a lot.

Maybe but for me personally I just want the twat gone, he's in no way fit for office in a way that's not been true before (at least in my lifetime). I think you're wrong as well that the tories can turn this round in 2 years with any of the prospective candidates. They can't run away from the cost of living crisis and the Brexit shambles they have created, the repercussions of will last years if not decades. Brexit is certainly no longer a benefit for them, and people are facing huge inflationary pressures whilst being taxed more. The press are still a problem like but even they can't disguise a completely failing economy, not to mention the NI shit. SO yeah, it's a good thing if he is effectively sacked in disgrace.

Aye we'll see. I think they're really struggling for a competent replacement that will appeal to the public. Johnson was some weird sort of character that could convince people in Hartlepool he's one of them. Nor sure Sunak can pull that off.

Which ones are the misfits, and why would any of them be worse than the liars, lickspittles and fucking Dorries that Johnson has surrounded himself with?

I'm not sure "we picked a brown lad" is considered that great a message with a portion of their voters.

Here's something for you to do. Why don't you go through the Labour front bench, match them against their tory counterparts, and tell me in what way any of them are "misfits" or less capable of running the country than Johnson's cabinet. Naaah, didn't think you'd be up for it.

As for Johnson, he's running at a historic levels of unpopularity. People have finally seen through him, and everyone, including the tory parliamentary party and the wider party, knows it. He's toast.

Jinx!

Edit: was going to say, I actually think that's a pretty strong shadow cabinet. Most people won't know them but who knew Blair's shadow cabinet before they were elected. Johnson actively purged the party of talent and replaced them with sycophants. That's always disastrous in the longer term but then Johnson can't see past a day ahead, he's a fucking moron.

I am absolutely loving this Johnson collapse btw. I detest the man and to watch his dream job cave in on him, and as you said earlier because of his own personal shortcomings....

Ah, but he’s also a midget, so he ticks the spaz box too.

Which, in fairness, also qualifies for your point.

Just to assist our resident online research specialist, here’s the current Cabinet incuntbents.

If he’s heard of more than half of them, I’ll be mildly surprised.

We have never been represented by such a bunch of incompetent wankers in all of history. I'm looking forward to @Asprilla telling me who his favourites are.

If I was a betting man, I’d like to see the odds on his venal, gold-digging twat of a wife still being with him a year after he’s punted.
