Pope’s out. I wonder if they’ll bring Foakes back in and play Bairstow as a specialist batsman. I hope so. So presumably it won’t happen

Sadly, they're not calling anyone up, so it's either Lawrence or Ali back and everyone shuffles up one I reckon.

Probably, Root up to 3, I bloody hope they find a space for Wood (if fit obvs), I think Tongue stays in (phnar, phnar) as even that little extra pace he has bothered the convicts. I'd drop Robinson I think, in the hope Jimmy can finally get some swing in Leeds, if he can't, I think his run may be at an end.

I’ve read people on Twitter saying it’ll be Dan Lawrence, which I don’t think is going to scream fear into the heart of the Aussies.

Foakes for me too. And Wood for Anderson

rest Jimmy at leeds. Bring him back for old Trafford. See if he can get it swinging on his home ground. A final swan song to level the series 2-2

Robinson needs dropping at the moment because he is all talk and little action.  His comments after the first test were especially embarrassing in the light of the first day of the second test.

He seems to be going slower and slower as well, now that he is set as the next Anderson and Broad and his place is confirmed.  He almost seems like he is back to the stage when he was told he needed to up his fitness.

Having said that, Anderson looks a shadow of himself, but perhaps not surprising at his age.

Of course, no one gets dropped anymore, for loyalty reasons (unless you are the best wicketkeeper in the world).

also think josh tongue was unlucky to be dropped. the aussies didn't like his extra pace

Aye, Robinson has looked poor (and a tad chubby) not sure why he's retained tbh.

Woakes back in after missing out at Lords where he has a very good record as well.

Can't understand leaving out Tongue and retaining Robinson.  The pace he's been bowling at isn't getting very far against the Aussies at all.  Unless they think Tongue can't manage it physically.  Even if that's the case I'd have been tempted to go with Potts over Robinson.  At least he bowls in the 80's.  Hopefully the pitch at Leeds will be more helpful for our bowlers.

They were always likely to need to rotate the bowlers with the tests being so close together. But Robinson can definitely count himself lucky not to be one of those missing out.

ben foakes has got to be left scrathing his head mind

They couldn't include him because that would hold up the picking of YJB to scrutiny.  Essentially, YJB (as some has previously said) has been given way too many chances and while he had a superb summer last year (or the year before - can't remember and can't be bothered to check), picking him with little cricket and especially as wicketkeeper has come back to bite them.

Even though he scored 78 in the first test, he has more than made up for those by dropping sitters and getting out recklessly in other innings.  Also, his dismissal in the second test was down to incredible stupidity and casualness.

I don't think it is going too far to say that he has cost us both tests so far.

If is helps our bowlers, it is likely to help their bowlers even more, especially if Boland comes back in, with them consistently bowling about 10kph quicker.

Hopefully they play both him and Tongue in one of the remaining matches
