Aye we book cos it's usually rammed. Great food though.

The Round is canny on the main street if you can convince all 10 of your family that they need burger and chips for their tea.

Nah, we are staying in Bowness. Me and the wife are always up around 6 unlike young people, so I tend to jump straight up the kirkstone pass (not a euphemism) to watch the deer, but decided to keep going and ended up in Keswick.  Now back and just nearly killed myself playing football golf in an absolute heatwave.

I left it tbh as I didn’t like it. More like a big cube of sourdough type bread, deep fried.

Unsurprisingly, it wasn't deep fried sourdough.

It was a fucking hash brown.

I don't know how they dare show their fucking faces anywhere outside of the 50 states.

I did see one guy who had a t-shirt with

'I apologise for our president' on 😂

Should've said 'Nee good apologising, mate. You've got a right 'to bear arms' in case tyrants take over so why don't you use your arms on something other than bairns in a school?' and you could've seen how he digested your question. :good:

I'm just back from a jolly boy's outing weekend with my dad and bro on the isle of Islay. We stayed in Port Ellen and walked the distillery trail from starting at Laphraoig then going up to Lagavulin and Ardbeg.

Highly recommended. Rugged, beautiful coastline. Super friendly people on an island with only 3k inhabitants. Everyone there is a whisky expert.

Did you encounter, and photograph, any indeterminate breakfast items, though?

If not, why even bother posting?

Did they give you the source water to splash in to your samples?

Been to three distilleries, Talisker, Dalwhinnie and Oban, and they all gave us a little splash of the water from the source, and I remember thinking each time

“ This tastes fucking incredible” then realising I’d only get to taste it that way again by going back to the distillery

The Talisker tour was memorable because we were staying just along the road on a winter climbing trip.
We turned up, not realising the tours only ran in summer and the lass sent us away then came running out as we were getting back in our cars and said to come back in and she’d do us a tour anyway.

Not 100% sure if she actually charged us for it either.

Anyone had much joy with last minute holidays before? Me and my lass are looking for the first week of September and were wondering how long to leave it and more importantly, who offers the best deals? Doesn’t have to be anything incredible; just 10 nights to a Greek island is probably the plan but not sure whether to be strong and wait until 3 days beforehand

yeah - exactly that setup. there was always a glass of water with a little pipette of water to add to the dram. i always like to try it neat first then add a small splash of water to see what it does to the flavour profile.

We booked a week in Mallorca off teletext holidays the other day. It’s last week of august and was decent value for the two of us all inclusive.

Not been yet so it might be shit, but Mallorca is decent.
