Everyone speaks great English though if you are struggling. The tourist areas are quite small or close together so a 3 day job would probably do. I have had squid (and octopus, much to my wife's disgust) such as you suggest in Alicante's last traditional tapas bar...the condensation off the ceiling dripped into your food if you weren't careful .. no idea if it's still there,few years back now...
