Worth noting that the likes of George Floyd won't show up on that graph, he wasn't shot to death by police, he was suffocated by them and he isn't the only one. There's a reason "I can't breathe" has

Iirc the cases he’s bringing against these states won’t go to the Federal Supreme Court but those states Supreme Court. The most that would happen from that is perhaps a recount, as it’s complete fuck

They are simultaneously too ineffective to stop Trump when he succeeds and too powerful to overcome whenever he fails to deliver. Just like "antifa", which are both a terrifying scourge that law enfor

I don't know what's worse. The fact he's about the shoot his own cock off, or that Christmas tree

The Christmas Tree- call me biased but the Christmas Tree is always the worst of any given set of options.

Also, would it preclude Pence from carrying out two terms in the future or completely obliterate his chances of nomination?

No it wouldn't.  I think he would have to have been President for a couple of years for that rule to apply.  Certainly longer than 14 days or whatever it is now.

LBJ took over from JFK then won the next election but chose not run for re-election iirc. Not sure if anything in the constitution has changed since then though

I immediately started wondering what they'd threatened him with to get him to read that out. There's no way that was written by him, and there's no way he wanted to do it.

If they’ve got any sense, regardless of the grief involved, Trump should receive official censure, removed or impeached without delay; if they don’t he can say till his dieing day that he did nothing wrong because he didn’t receive punishment from the legislature. Next month the feds can make a proper start on him the rest of the clan too.  But he must be seen to have received punishment from the state.

Not sure. #Trump2024 is trending at the moment though

GOP might have learned their lesson but at ewerk said yesterday they might look at the votes they need and find a cleaner, cleverer more placatory Trump figure...

Yeah, they need to send a signal or they can look forward to the same again next election, or worse if the Republicans hold both houses by then.

That would be up to the Senate, it isn't automatic but is something they can do.

There was a twitter thread about Josh Hawley, the little shite hawk senator who was one of those opposing the vote certifications. The bloke writing the thread went to the same super posh twat school in London that Hawley did, and reckons on arrival one of the teachers said "You're not another fascist like Hawley, are you?"

This lad is the real deal, but he's a slick Patrick Bateman type, and not oafish or tactless in the way that Trump is. This is why they need to clamp down on all of them now, Cruz, Hawley, really make it clear that if you get involved in seditious conspiracy, it ends your political career.

Otherwise they'll have to reckon with an emboldened Hawley in 2024.

Surely then, the best political strategy is to impeach him now, which takes him out the running for 24 and makes that election much less chaotic, divisive and violent? Then get someone who can appeal to the yeehaws with his heritage (white, southern, plain spoken), but appeal to the moderates with his rhetoric?

Surely, if the Republicans let him run again he'll syphon off votes for someone who can actually win the country? Some of those that voted for Trump this time will have been appalled at the attack on the Capitol and his part in it. Obviously some will think it's brilliant, but they are a minority, in the scheme of things.

Is Hawley to Trump what Priti Patel is to Johnson?

Yeah and I notice that Hawley is completely unrepentant despite being dropped by some corporate he was involved with.

There is another one, a Trump staffer, heavily involved in alt right nonsense, can't think of his name now...

Stephen Miller? Aye Hawley was about to publish a book but Simon and Schuster have pulled it.

That would be the smart move overall. However, a lot of these Republicans are going to face re-election in the next four years and are they really going to want to be seen to impeach a man who has just gotten 74m votes?
