Some noises that we'll put off players wanting to come here if we make an example of Isak and to an extent, we probably will.

But do we really want to entertain a repeat of the nonsense that's gone on the last 3-4 weeks consuming a transfer window? It's less about the individual and more about the downstream impact on the club that takes precedence for me.

Do we want to be seen as a club happy to challenge for the CL spots or a club intent on winning silverware? Because selling Isak would be a message to the current squad and potential recruits that we're happy to be the former.

Agree with the sentiment though. It's something I think Ferguson got right at Man Utd. If you acted like a cunt he steered clear of you. If you became a cunt, you were history. Beckham, Keane & Staam are all testament to that.

The difference is that Ferguson had replacements lined up. Keane was already finished but Beckham was replaced by Ronaldo and Stam by Laurent Blanc. We've been unable to get any replacement at a similar level to Isak.

Aye and all three of those moved abroad - we if you can count Sockland as abroad in the case of Keane

Yeah agreed. Was talking about it with a few mates in the pub last night - we all support different teams and the consensus is he's being a complete cunt. There's even a Liverpool fan in there of that opinion too.

As one bloke said - Isak's stock was elevated massively last season and it's the first summer he's been considered hot property. He's profile is as big as it is in part because of the players around him and he's suddenly decided "fuck you all, I'm better than you!". It's absolutely disgusting conduct.

True but it was still a core principle which Ferguson always stuck to. Of course it's easier when you have the financial might and training academy Man United did, that's what we need to develop, but within the framework of those same principles.

Yeah it has to be an aspirational goal for us - to get to a position where we have either replacements waiting to join, or already within our stable that we can fuck players off when they start this shit. I think Ince was the same, wasn't he? Started agitating he was the big I am and demanding his move to Italy. Never hit the same heights again I seem to recall.

Where did they drag up those utter melts from?

...also I can't put into words how fucking annoyed I get when I hear those entitled cunts say "know your place". :fuk:

Nearly always uttered from a plastic fan wanker too.

It’s time for the club and Howe to just very publicly confirm he’s going nowhere.

We ain’t got time to find a Poundland Isak and the sooner it’s properly public, everyone can move on.

A betting company being utterly moronic did you say? Imagine my surprise? Let's grab some duck eggs from the street for some content, and please, don't forget to gamble your money with us.

Not a scouse accent amongst them. Maybe the last one, but am not sure, as the camera wasn't covered in hockle?

Howe's never going to do that though because, as he's repeated and rightly pointed out, he's not in total control of that situation. If he, or the club makes that statement and he goes, we're going to look fucking stupid. Echoes of when Pardew claimed, just one month into his tenure, that Andy Carroll was absolutely going nowhere.

The approach they're taking is precisely right - say very little publicly, and what they do say, is factual.

Howe has been quite shrewd. It's no accident IMO that he's slipped vital bits of information into what he's said in pressers - "I know of his whereabouts, only through the media", "He's not carrying any injury". Basically pointing out that Isak is behaving like a cunt and the 'what if' narrative being pedaled by the media isn't accurate.

I think you misunderstand.

We are not getting a suitable replacement this window.

That being the case, the owners should decide and publicly confirm he’s not moving. Howe is then quite ok to confirm the boards public statement.

The sooner this happens, the sooner we move on.

No surprise but they'll have done that deliberately as well.

I don't misunderstand at all.

I think if Liverpool meet our valuation and that we're able to get Wissa plus someone at Isak's level, I think they'll seriously consider selling him. The constraint for me is not having a suitable replacement and our valuation not being met. Hence why the club won't put out a statement as you suggest - they're keeping their powder dry.

That and the fact they stance is not for sale, confirmed by the fact they "robustly" rejected the scouse offer, why would they say anything else.

Anything said would be twisted and just add fuel to the fire.

And how at this point can we possibly do that? Mind you as someone has already pointed out Wissa himself  matched Isak for non pen goals last season, so may two Wissas

Exactly. A shrewd logical rational response to the situation which is ongoing. Don't needlessly shut doors, don't burn bridges, keep all options open. Above all don't be overaken by emotion. As usual I'm nassively impressed by Howes conduct on this.

I don't think Howe saying "he's not for sale" does anything to change things. Like TP said, it likely just inflames things. The media narrative has already turned imo so it isn't even necessary. I think almost nobody, with the exception of irrelevant social media examples of deluded Liverpool supporters, expects us to sell Isak unless a replacement comes in first and Liverpool makes a drastically improved offer.

I think the club has managed this saga really really well honestly. Having Howe at the front of things obviously helps. We look like the mature ones, with Isak and Liverpool both carrying on like muppets.
