He might win them the Champions League for them which is the main reason Liverpool want him.... They’re winning fuck all if they don’t sort the defence out. This season could be one long Van Dijk downfall if he continues as he started on Sunday. If I’m Slot, I’m wanting that large chunk of money spent on more pressing areas
Dazzler 16216
We don't need someone at Isak's level. We need Wissa for the here and now and someone at Isak's level from 2022 when we signed him. Hopefully someone who does hip adduction (or abduction) exercises so his groin isn't held together by masking tape.

What do expect - Eddie to call him into the office on September 2nd and say "don't worry Alex, I know you've been a cunt all summer but let's put it behind us and crack on - first name on the teamsheet as always, OK?" Get fucking real, man! He's off into the wilderness for quite some time if he remains with us. He won't be up for selection - Eddie is too much of a man of principal for that bullshit. So in 5 minutes you’ve gone from not going to play to “sometime” in the wilderness! You’ll have him starting against Villa by tea time Edited August 12 by Christmas Tree

I honestly don't really seek Isak adding much to them, he could just make the team more unbalanced. They seem to have bigger need of defensive reinforcements. But what the fuck do I know? No magic words can be uttered by Howe, the chairman, God or anyone else that are impervious to reinterpretation, media manipulation, or just plain old misunderstanding. In my opinion, Isak will not play for us until after September 1st at minimum no matter what anyone does to try and convince him otherwise. Aye. The reality of the transfer window ending and he's still at the club is the next step here. Announcing publicly now that he won't be leaving is stupid. Much better to allow Liverpool to either not bid, or bid way too little again, and then you can at least say to the player that "it's them that's fucked you about here, not us." Making a public pronouncement now only serves to make it harder to reintegrate the player.

rikko 105
I think both the club and Isak could have and should have handled this better. If he ends up staying he needs to be carefully managed and re-integrated into the squad. This will all be after the transfer window closes and he’s got not choice. For me the best way forward at that point is a new 3 year contract for him with a release clause at £200mil for January dropping to £150mil in the summer. Then he gets the security of knowing he can get his move and hopefully continues to be motivated to perform to earn it to somewhere better than Liverpool. Hopefully he sacks his agents and makes suitable apology for his behaviour too. If he is sold, needs to be for big money, and we need to get 2 solid strikers in. Assuming Wissa arrives that’s a good replacement for Wilson and then we either need a good 12 month stop gap on loan or an experienced striker who is fit and motivated. Watkins or similar would be fine for short term. It’s not ideal but I doubt we’ll be able to get a proper replacement until next summer. I think it’s probably better if he leaves this window as there’s a lot of work for him to do to rebuild trust and cohesion.

He's not playing for us for significant period of time - I've been quite static on that viewpoint. The soundbites coming out of Howe are supportive of that. You on the other hand think the club can issue an 'absolutely not for sale' statement, which will ensure both the media and interested clubs avert their attention and that Howe will put his arm round his shoulder and say "there, there Alex. Let's get you in the team". Will he fuck! Sends completely the wrong message to the player, his agent, the media, interested parties and, most important of all, his team mates who is fucking over right-royally. What sort of message does that demonstrate to them if the club play Isak as though nothing has happened at all? His actions have torpedoed our pre-season. Ayatollah Hermione 17238
For me, the fee is £150m and I’m adding £5m on for every time Liverpool and Isak’s agent have tried to act the cunt in the press. It’s also an extra £15 million because it’s disrupted our transfer window and it’s also an extra £10m because they’re just generally a pack of horrible cunts

Yeah I've not once suggested the club's position will be he's played his last game for us - it's possible the player might be of that position. But this notion CT is peddling of 'let's head off to the Winchester and have a pint whilst this all blows over and, oh you're in the team against Villa because you're our best striker' is fucking barmy! He won't play against Villa, he absolutely won't play against Liverpool. A month or so is probably accurate but it'll depend where his head is at.

It is a concrete reality. Words are not. Anything we say prior to September 1st will be incorporated into support for the narrative of Liverpool, Isak and whoever else. The irony should not be lost on anyone that you're insisting that objective reality can be spelled out to Isak by one person spouting four words when your sense of reality cannot be dispelled by all of us with multiple paragraphs worth of basically everyone agreeing that you're wrong. Maybe that's the problem. We're not Eddie. Eddie Howe: "CT, you are wrong!" CT: "I am forced to agree because Eddie Howe can only speak in objective truths that require no hermeneutic process to separate facts and truth from rhetoric and opinions." Glad we cleared that up.

If he is to remain, I'd be supportive of us saying absolutely nothing until the window closes and then perhaps comment on the summer - that the minimum threshold we'd consider for sale was not met and irrespective we would not be selling to another Premier League club in any circumstances whilst he is under contract. Might be beneficial because, let's face it, if he does remain we're going to have to endure this nonsense again from late December and all the way through January. Chaser 1919
Well he's completely fucking burned his bridges now IMO, I don't see any comeback from this so the club needs to either fuck him over or fuck him off.
