were all assuming Mitchell hasn't fulfilled his role and been given the bullet.

The word according to Waugh is that he left of his own accord. He told the leadership about it a few weeks ago and they tried to persuade him not to go and he made his final decision at the weekend. If so then it's pretty poor form from him not to see out the transfer window.

Absolutely nonsense and wish all talk of it would just disappear.

Wilkommen Duffman :)

Gemmill will note your opinion on xG with interest.  When he comes for you just remember he’s a great lad really but he’s always fuckin wrong :D

If he's gone of his own accord and given he cited Eales moving on as a factor, he should have signaled his intentions in line with Eales' announcement or at least soon after. I disagree his claim that he's left at the right time for the club. It's amongst the worst time to do so.

Doesnt sound like Eales was doing a great job either, how can you appoint a DOF without having at least a word with the manager? Eales and Mitchell were supposed to bring stone cold professionalism to the club after the departure of Staveley. Looks like they've done anythig but. Slow progress on stadium etc also doesnt speak well about our execs.

Hopefully the next lot have a bit more about them.

Which is fair, but then we should have replaced him by now. I do question why he's been in position for a year now since that came out. That can't be good for him or us.

No idea mate but as a twice cancer haver, work couldn’t have been further from my mind.

I know and understand that but since he's opted to stay in the job all this time hopefully he's doing alright and everyone at the club believed he could do a job? Like Rayvin said why stay on otherwise if you're going through something as grave as that?

Secure your family's future. I'm not suggesting for a second that that's what's been going on btw. But if you think this might be the last work you can do for a while, or possibly the last time you'll be able to operate at this level, there's an incentive to hang on.

Sense of normality really, work is a big part of people’s lives. I worked until the chemo kicked in, then had 6 months off during treatment when I felt awful.

This isnt me saying he should have done nowt but it is me saying the club have done the right thing by standing by him and respecting his wishes.

Fair enough that. Club's responsibility at the end of the day to have a succession plan in place.

I don't really believe that. If he wanted to go I can't see any performance related reason why leadership would have tried to persuade him to stay. Possibly this idea has been leaked to prevent it from looking like our ownership and board are difficult to work with? From all we have seen PSR is the difficult part. Mitchell appeared to get everyone offside very early with the not fit for purpose interview, perhaps he was never able to recover from this and wasn't a good fit for the club's culture. In the past now, but without being able to see behind the curtains he appeared to do a largely terrible job.
