Friendlies 2025

Recommended Posts

To be fair, they're a couple of weeks ahead of us preparation wise, it's our first game and you could tell by the first ten minutes or so we looked ok for a makeshift lineup. I'm sure Howe will have got some more info from his players fitness levels etc.

Difference in fitness levels is an excuse that isn’t washing with me here, like

It's their 5th pre season game apparently. Our first.

Howe's comments did seem to raise more questions than answers. I really don't see why Isak couldn't have took a place in the stands with Big Joe if he's fit enough to train, but not quite fit enough to play. Sending him home only adds to the speculation after the club made it clear he wasn't for sale. If he gets onto the plane to Singapore we can probably rest easy.

Their back four was all 2nd and 3rd string players until Tierney and Scales came on.

If it makes you feel any better though, they also put four past Man City in a friendly this time last year.

Howes comments are worrying. “No formal approach” means liverpool have definitely been in touch. This may have unsettled him.

i wouldn’t entertain anything under £180m to Liverpool.

I think it's safe to say Liverpool have achieved their goal of destabilising the player. Arseholes. I hope they're fucking shit this season.

Isak was linked to arsenal all last summer and I don’t remember them leaving him at home.

It’s not what we want to hear but it’s looking like we’ve been taken for right cunts by Liverpool. Completely exposed our ramshackle situation behind the scenes tbh. I’m at the stage where I’m actually worried that we can’t pay Isak what he could get at Liverpool. They’re completely exempt from the rules and are playing with a totally different financial deck than us anyway

I dunno, I don't think that interview sounds as bad as is being made out. There's no 'I'd like to keep him but it's not in my hands' style comment, it's more like 'You never know but as far as we know everything is good there'.

Is that quote from Howe that I've seen saying Newcastle "aren't the biggest payers" legit? Cos you know you fix that? You start paying people more. Impossible to compete if you don't.

I can’t see Pif are desperate to sell Isak and we have no sporting director pushing the issue. I would prefer how to just come out and say he’s going nowhere.

"He's going nowhere. Not even to our own pre-season friendlies".

UEFA wage to turnover rules could fuck the lot tbf. If Isak gets 350k a week, pretty soon Tonali will want it, Bruno will want it and so on. And if they don’t get a fucking wriggle on and build a stadium that makes us some proper money, it’ll fuck us. The system is rigged from every angle

You just pay a fine for that though. That's what Villa and Chelsea have just done. They don't stop you from being in the CL or anything.

This isn't the PL where clubs can vote in whatever rules they want. There's established precedent for clubs just getting fined for breaching UEFA's wage to turnover rules. We're not about to be singled out for different treatment if we breach it.
