I know many disagree with me but Srnicek was of similar ability. Unbelievable shot-stopper but little beyond that.

We need a more complete keeper if we’re going to continue to challenge at this level.

pope wouldn't make the top 5 goalkeepers in my time.

he mightn't even get in the top ten.

Can't help thinking that replacing Pope for Ramsdale would be be welccomed by our back 4. They can't have any confidence in passing the ball to him & that's got to have an affect on them during the match

gordon up front.

burn at left back.

pope in goal.

fucking shite decisions.

Even on top of that we had multiple fast break opportunities in the first half that failed to eventuate into chances because of terrible passes/decisions. Another frustrating game. That should have been us locking up our knockout phase berth, now we'll lose to Leverkusen because we're terrible away from home and then the wheels could fall off.

Not having a striker is killing us, but IMO Wolte should still have started up top for us. Murphy will have a go anywhere, but his defense is shite as was his decision making in this game.

That's purely too many crucial fuck ups from Pope, what a shame that City fucked us and Trafford over in the summer. Ramsdale deserves a run of games now.

I totally understand starting Gordon up front. Flogging Woltemade will eventually lead to him breaking down and we can't afford that.

I'm right on the verge of being completely done with Gordon though. The only thing holding me back is that he looked either still not completely fit, or like he couldn't really be fucked last night, and I don't know which it is.

There's certainly been enough evidence this season to suggest that his head is elsewhere and he thinks he's better than us. Which he absolutely fucking isn't on current showing.

Re Gordon, it's the perfect opportunity for Howe, in a season when he's desperate to get to the WC to sit him down and tell him he's out of the side until he plays his way back into it.

Tell him Barnes is deservedly first choice now, and Gordon is going to have to use sub appearances to make something happen and force his way back into the team.

And if he doesn't, his WC place will likely be at risk. It's been too easy for him so far. He always gets back in ahead of Barnes as soon as he's fit or back from one of his stupid red card suspensions.

Aye. I’ve never taken to him tbh (maybe it’s the Scouse thing). He talks a good game but his body language tells a different story, pretty much since he got here. He clearly thinks he is better than he is.

I’d flog him to Liverpool tomorrow for £80m. He has never been one of our blue chip players. He doesn’t have the finishing ability or composure to get to that level.

A very good player when he is on it but will never get any higher imo.

On his day Gordon is scintillating but those days have diminished in the past 12 months where his red cards outnumber his league goals. He needs a spell out of the side. Agree that Eddie should play players on current form, not historic form. He seeks to apply that logic to certain players but not others, as is the case with Pope and Gordon. And to a lesser extent Burn, where there is mitigation as he has played out of position

The final straw for me was the 95th min free kick that Pope failed to clear the first man with 🤦🏻‍♂️

I said at the time who is the worst player on the pitch when it comes to taking a set piece? Absolutely ridiculous to let him take it. It kind of summed up the complacency of the whole performance. Still probably had enough opportunities to win.

Aye, but let's not isolate him with that issue. There were corners that failed to beat the first man and he definitely wasn't taking those.

We get to spend the £80m.

2 seasons ago maybe, but we're not getting anywhere near that on his last 6 months.

I think that's what ultimately pissed me off last night. We should have scored 3 goals in the first half and with a prolific striker through the middle, I think we would have.

We have to manage Woltemade's gametime - I accept that, but not with that clown. I'd play Barnes or Elanga through the middle before him.

'Aye gaffer, I get you, but, laaaaaaaaaaaaaa, you're playing me up front in a game where we have a German Strike on the bench like'

IMO He should have started Wolte and just left Gordon on the bench.  We were crying out for a striker and Eddie brings him on in the 70th minute.

We need rotation for definite.  But Gordon has shown he cannot play there.  It's like bringing in a CB at LB.  Or w RW to play RWB.  Square pegs, round holes.   Eddie needs to stop doing it.

Last night our players seemed intent on giving the ball away at every opportunity. It was this complete lack of passing ability did for us last night (alongside Pope’ s”aneurysm)

I lost the amount of times Bruno and Murphy gave it away, fucking ridiculous.

But then again.  Bruno and Sandro played 90+ mins on Sunday against City.  They must have been fucked.

Thing is with Gordon, to be effective he needs to be running all over, not strolling about like last night. If it’s fitness I’d rather see him do that for 45 mins - an hour instead of playing within himself. I don’t really like to single players out because there’s never a single factor to a poor team performance but he was pretty awful

Yeah, you could single most of the team out from last night. Even Tonali was sloppy. I think Gordon is beginning to grate on fans now because it’s coming upto 10 months now without any consistency.

I thought Murphy was terrible last night, although it’s not his fault he was out of position. Still, we are at a stage where we are fuming over losing an away CL game. Realistically this might be as good as it gets for us. Enjoy it lads.

I didn't even see him doing it for 30 mins, let alone 45. Any situation where he could have got a shot away or made a run, he hesitated too much. You can't afford to do that when you're playing through the middle. He's either injured, terrified of getting hurt in a challenge, or just doesn't have what it takes to play in that position.

Aye, certain people on here will tell you we've got a 'distraction' out of our way without our PL players picking up an injury. We ought to be grateful.
