  1. What's Ferguson got to do with it?
  2. So having the top four winning week in, week out and running away with it makes for a good league does it?
  3. Rightly or wrongly David Miliband was considered to be much like Tony Blair and it's not surprising that he wasn't the choice of the unions. Read a political commentator earlier who felt Ed would lead Labour through the wilderness years much like Hague and IDS did with the Tories and that he'll be replaced before Labour win another election.
  4. West Brom winning 3-0!!! They missed a penalty earlier too. EDIT: Nasri pulls one back.
  5. You'd think they were playing us rather than our arch rivals.
  6. Gerrard equalises for the dippers..
  7. Fuck me, West Brom have just scored 2 quick goals at the Emirates!
  8. With regards the Liverpool goal, they'll probably claim it's Karma for beachballgate last season. Looks academic now though...
  9. Was gonna say 'Balls entrenched by Brown' is one of the sickest euphemisms I've heard around here. Actually, scrap that, it's not even a euphemism is it you sick fucks. Result announced at the same time as footy scores today btw. Edit: innuendo was the word I was looking for. Just for you Renton, just for you....
  10. Was too entrenched with Brown IMO. The party wants a change.
  11. Result will be announced in two hours. Most observers are expecting it to be a close run between the Milliband brothers but that Ed will edge it...
  12. All the more reason your proposed 'bet' is nuts. Leazes is the one that says its just as easy now as it was back then. I'm offering him a bet that suits what he's said to me. You're both comparing both situations as if they're the same.
  13. tbf I said that last round. I reckon you're right though - Wenger HAS to win something this season.
  14. All the more reason your proposed 'bet' is nuts.
  15. is that the one where I asked you to bet me that your boy Mike never gets the club into the top 6 of the premiership, which the Halls and Shepherd did in just over 2 years ? No not the bet that proves nothing, the one that I offered that would prove that the club has moved forward since being taken over - that we finish this season above where we finished in Fred's last season? Take my bet or not? This isn't putting my allegiences in one single camp because both of you have massively flawed arguments however this 'bet' is ludicrous. You're talking about 2 seperate seasons that are 4 years apart - it's not just about Newcastle United, there's been a damned sight more change in those 4 years. Man City for instance. To put it in context you're talking about a time period that's the exacltly the same as between 1991/92 (when we survived going into Division 3 by the skin of our teeth) and 1995/96 (when we missed out on the Premiership title by 4 points).
  16. Whilst conveniently overlooking the fact he got us relegated? I was in no way a fan of Shepherd, but he chaired this club for 10 years without so much as a whisper of relegation ever being a possibility. Ashley took us down within 24 months. That is bollocks. No it isn't. Whilst we flirted mid-table in certain years (98-00 & 04-05 & 07) we were never in any real danger of sinking into the Championship - There was always at least half a dozen sides considerably worse than we were. 2006-2007 under Roeder we came 13th but only 5 points above relegation. We had an unexpected away win at Sheffield United but if this was reversed we would have been perilously close to relegation at the worst possible time. It didn't happen obviously but to say it was never a possibility displays exactly the same arrogance that condemned us in 2008-2009. Hardly arrogance, it was fact. We were a considerably better outfit than Watford, Charlton & Sheff Utd and the table proved it. IIRC Wigan got away by the skin of their teeth too. Any the point being argued is side-step. This isn't about just the chairman of the football club. We finished 13th in that season for a damned sight more reasons than just Shepherd in quite the same way that if we finish 12th or higher it isn't solely down to Ashley.
  17. Wasn't specifically thinking of the Kielder stone. Just looked very much like the North Tyne Valley - particularly as far up as the reservoir....

  20. To me this is a picture shouting out for natures real colours to shout through. Keep trying though, I'm sure it will good good eventually Better? Is that Kielder JawD? I spent a week up there last month and took a bag load of pics. Will upload some soon.
  21. Careful what you wish for...... I wouldn't put it past Ashley to hire him at some point.
  22. I thnk we've found a gem in Ferguson, so confident on the ball. Agreed and it's amazing he's only 13. Gosling can play right back, I'd give him a try there our weakest position. Born 12th July 1991 according to .COM. Makes him 19 in my book....
