  1. Not for me ta, I'm nearly bald.
  2. It's Pants for Llambias News of the World. DEREK LLAMBIAS, Newcastle's maligned managing director, must rue the day he set foot in the North East. He had a pair of boxer shorts thrown at him, but for once the relegated team he and owner Mike Ashley created were not quite pants. There were even smiles among 4000 travelling Geordies. They were treated to seven goals, which matched their tally for the final 11 games of last season. Shola Ameobi (2), Damien Duff, Kevin Nolan, Jonas Gutierrez, Steven Taylor and Andy Carroll were on target. Dean Windass scored both for his latest club.
  3. Olando Pirates 2 - 0 Man City. Oh dear.
  4. I can see Khan losing tonight if he isn't careful, he's moving up in weight and in class against a naturally bigger man, Khan's chin will always be a worry for him but it makes his fights more exciting for the viewer. Khan will probably win by late stoppage or on points but don't be surprised to see him knocked spark out like against Bredis Prescott.

  7. The former US TV newscaster Walter Cronkite, known to millions as "the most trusted man in America", has died at the age of 92. An executive for the CBS news channel said Mr Cronkite died at his New York home with his family at his side. He was reported to have been ill for some time. Mr Cronkite presented the evening news programme for CBS from 1962 to 1981, helping the programme to become the most watched bulletin in the US. His career covered such major global events as the assassination of former US President John F Kennedy, the moon landing, Watergate, former President Richard Nixon's resignation and the fall of Saigon. In 1972, he was deemed by a poll of the US public to be, "the most trusted man in America", beating presidents, members of congress and other journalists. He ended his broadcasts with his signature sign-off: "That's the way it is." Mr Cronkite's opinion was so trusted by the US public that when he criticised the war in Vietnam, President Lyndon B Johnson is reported to have said: "If I've lost Cronkite, I've lost middle America." Linda Mason, the vice-president of CBS, said Mr Cronkite had died at 1942 local time (2342 GMT) on Friday after a long illness.

  11. Shares in JJB Sports rose by 12pc yesterday after the retailer said that Microsoft founder Bill Gates had built up a 3.14pc stake in the company. Mr Gates bought enough shares earlier this week to require that the size of his holding was disclosed. The shares were bought in his own name and via the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Trust. Having one of the world's most famous – and richest – men on the share register was a further twist in a bizarre few weeks for struggling JJB. Last week its chairman Sir David Jones was embroiled in a row with Mike Ashley, owner of the rival Sports Direct chain, over a £1.5m personal loan that Sir David received from him. News that Mr Gates had taken a stake in JJB led to speculation in the City that a £50m rights issue would be more likely to succeed. Observers said yesterday that Mr Gates could increase his stake and might participate in the issue. JJB has been suffering recently because of falling sales and rising costs. Earlier this year Chris Ronnie, JJB's chief executive, was dismissed for "gross misconduct" after a controversial share sale. Sir David, who is known for reviving fashion chain Next in the 1990s, was appointed as chairman to turn the company around. The purchase is not the first by Mr Gates in a small British retailer. In the spring of 2008, he took a small stake in Carpetright, the floorcoverings retailer. Shares in JJB rose by 3 to 28p.

  14. I would expect this to be standard procedure, you couldn't negotiate selling a house and then tell the new owners when you hand over the keys that you've flogged the garage and shed, although knowing Ashley as we do, I wouldn't be surprised.

  17. The new one at 599 euros look like they are nice and quick. You just need an Intel for stuff like plex. Mac-mini + Plex + Giganews + sabnzd+ = automated heaven. How about one of these ? http://www.ebuyer.com/product/161524 Does it connect to the internet? You can set a pc up to search newsgroups for the latest tv shows / favourite movies automatically as they are posted. The mac can be set up to automatically search the tvdb or the imdb to bring all the artwork and information for whatever it is you've downloaded. Means it just sits there running searchs on newsgroups and storing your media. Lad on NO told me all about it. If that thing could connect to the internet and run software then it'd be a lot cheaper. No, you have to connect a storage device to it with the media preloaded, a good piece of kit for the price though.
