  1. Cheshire Police have apologised to Premier League striker Victor Anichebe after officers challenged him as he looked in a jeweller's shop window. The Everton player was window-shopping with a friend in Knutsford, Cheshire, when officers confronted the pair, eventually handcuffing his friend. Police said they were acting after a spate of robberies but admitted it was a "less than proportionate reaction". Mr Anichebe, 20, said the incident was "embarrassing and totally humiliating". He said in a statement: "Whilst I do fully understand Cheshire Police's desire to tackle the problem of robberies on jewellery shops in the Knutsford area, I remain deeply upset and very angry about the treatment which was meted out to myself and a friend yesterday [Wednesday]. I asked the officers if they would have taken the action they did had I been white rather than black Victor Anichebe "It was not only totally ridiculous but also highly embarrassing and totally humiliating. "Simply because we stood our ground and insisted that we had done absolutely nothing wrong, they decided to place my friend in handcuffs. "I am currently having to use crutches to walk as I recently underwent surgery on a knee injury and - astonishingly - one of the officers even tried to grab the crutches in order to prevent me from 'escaping'." He added: "After what seemed like an eternity the police officers seemed to realise that they had made a mistake, acknowledging that I was a footballer with a Premiership club and not someone who was preparing to commit a crime. "At the time, I asked the officers if they would have taken the action they did had I been white rather than black." the old race card, how fantastic any reason why this was moved to newcastle from general forum ?

  3. since when has vital football and the daily mirror ever been remotely near the truth! How many times were they linked with N'Zogbia only to not be interested at all. And did you see how long it took wenger to had over 10 million for arshavin? theres no way he would put that sort of money down for an unproven youngster. All utter codswallop!

  8. Peasepud i had exactly the same problem with a pc in my house about 3 months ago. The cause was a power failure in my street and when the electricity came back on pc just wouldnt work. Now, im a bit of a computer geek and have built more than my fair share of pc's in my time so thought it shouldnt be too difficult troubleshooting what the problem was especially as i had loads of spare parts.. How wrong can you be I have tried New ram New Harddrive No cd drives No gfx (ie using onboard) New power supply Nothing seems to fix it. My outcome being............... Hoy the bastard into the garage and claim on the house insurance The pc was quite old a packard bell pentium 4 with 512mb ram 80 gb hdd. Pretty basic. But the insurance company sent £350 worth or pc world vouchers and obviously not needing a new monitor i got a canny new system. Dual core with 2Gb ram and 200GB harddrive. But i have since came to the conclusion that the original problem must have been the motherbaord blew with the power surge after the blow out. Hope this helps!

  17. NEWCASTLE have agreed a deal to sign another promising youngster – Swedish striker Samuel Adjei. Adjei is expected on Tyneside this week for a medical and to complete formalities on his move from Swedish Second Division club Jonkopings Sodra IF. United are understood to have agreed to pay a significant fee for Adjei, a Sweden Under-16 international who only turned 17 last month. “We are pleased with what we have achieved in the negotiations with Newcastle,” said Jonkopings director Daniel Segerfeldt. Adjei was discovered as a 12-year-old by lower league Swedish club Waggeryds IK, whose president Michael Anderberg said: “He has always been an extraordinary talent.”

  19. does make a valid point about the subscription fee for NUSC. If it had cost nothing or even £1 they would probably have 20 fold more members.
