  1. Nothing wrong with that quote, many a better player than Shelvey developed their ball control by general booting a ball against anything that'd bounce it. Average to good player atm Shelvey but plenty of years ahead for him to develop into a decent premier league midfielder. Not sure about him for much more than £6m thoughh.
  2. Partly why the protest idea is a bit daft - if we're winning most will stay, if we're drawing I imagine most, even those that were up for it initially, will be caught up in the excitement (as daft as that sounds) and stay to see if there's a winner, and if we're losing it will just be interpreted as a 1000, maybe 2000 if it's by a couple of goals, not that arsed fans out of 50k leaving an end of season nothing game early.
  3. So Atletico, a famous double that not even the keenest hipster would have predicted in August, or a memorable Benfica-like heartbreaking end?
  4. Find it strange mind that there's a little bit of a 'Mourinho keeps failing in the semi finals' narrative growing amongst some. Find it bizarre that a manager taking his teams as far in the competition as often as he has and has also won it twice in the last 10 years isn't praised for their consistency in a very difficult competition, even for the very biggest teams, but rather picked at for going out in the top 4.
  5. I like the spirit of actively doing something to try to change something, think the actual idea is pretty pants.
  6. Pardew will be here next season whatever happens over the next two imo.
  7. City still need to go and win the next 3, you'd fancy them to do it but far from a foregone conclusion.
  8. Good 'finger up arse' scene Just get it up there Spin Doctor!
  9. Know someone who made a very good profit (apparently just under 50% growth over about 4 years, he may have exaggerated that though) from buying a few thousand pounds worth of Gregg's shares when the recession started. There's a killing to be made if your clever/lucky, Rayvin summed up the reasons I've never got into it personally though. Would rather just put it in a bank and not have the stress.
  10. Extremely down with no particularly good justification when I need to be upbeat and productive. Should be an over the counter 1 day prozac available to make you hop around like a loon for a few hours. A Cornetto'll have to do.
  11. Saw his new tour in quite a small theatre in November, lots of talking to the audience thoroughly enjoyed it. 4 stars from me. Was a very drunk loud woman in the crowd who he expertly ripped to pieces in a very loving non-aggressive way. Just a naturally funny man.
  12. Turns 36 in 2 months and played 38 games this season, scoring 8 goals from midfield. No shame in your game dropping off at this stage.
  13. We never did get a referendum on it #JusticeForLeazes
  14. Are there any credible reports of how much he's actually on? Been long said he's got a low basic but heavily incentivised, anyone seen any credible ball park figures mentioned?
  15. You've short memories if you wouldn't take Moyes.
  16. I actually quite like David Moyes as a person, if it was for any other team I'd be hoping he turned it around. Hope he gets sacked and goes to someone more palatable, and finishes above them next season. Because they've spent £200mill and been relegated, hopefully.
  17. Enjoyed it, Freeman's accent a bit jarring to begin and Billy Bob's character doing 'the thing' seems less plausible than the original Buscemi and blonde guy pair doing it for cash, but looking forward to the rest of it now. edit* Fargo that is.
  18. Aye but if you convert it into goals against premier league opposition we're actually in the top 20 out of about 100, top 20%. Like hats at times, these stats are.
  19. As with most things it's somewhere in the middle. A better manager would find a place for him in the team without a doubt and have getting the most out of our most creative player a priority, but while he's a top class dribbler and is good at spotting a dangerous pass/cutting in for ashot, and therefore without a doubt worth a place in a our team, he's not the best at off the ball movement and he's always had problems fitting in, if you believe the rumours of the players not liking him so much. Think in theory if he went to say Liverpool he would be great, carrying the ball forward with genuine danger of a long shot given too much space/skinning people and people moving around him to play the ball to he'd be very, very dangerous. However, there are people with far more knowledge/better judgement than anyone on here making these calls, and if a bigger club doesn't come in for him when he'd obviously be available for a not humongous fee you'd imagine they've either heard credible stories of a poor attitude/inability to get on with teammates or think his talents simply don't outweigh his weakness for a top, top club. If Chelsea are willing to get rid of Mata, I'm not sure they'd fancy Hatem. Having said that, I'd love him to start every game for us and a manager with a passion for more attractive football to take over.
  20. Got to hand it to Pulis, struggled to get much value to really stride further with the money he spent at Stoke but he's a genuinely great midtable manager, if that makes sense as a thing.
  21. Same, was literally just sitting down to watch it, casually checked facebook and lo and behold word for word someone had put as a status Now what on Earth is there to be gained from that? People that have seen it already don't care and people who haven't will think you're a selfish/stupid prick. Will never understand the psychology behind it. Good episode though enjoyed it regardless.
