  1. I had enough fun with that wolfy charade, done my shift.
  2. Besides, he's going nowhere unless we really are on the verge of getting relegated (again). If he survived the 16th season (was it the second last game we secured safety?) he'll survive plenty more dull, mid and even lower mid-table years imo as long as he continues to not rock the boat and actively praise the way the club is being run.
  3. They could, I just don't see why they would risk anything at the moment. Even someone who in theory should come and do a great job has the potential to go tits up without explanation. And my mine gripes with Pardew are the style of play we usually have (Ashley won't care about finding a replacement who plays nice football, just someone who'll get results) and his constant praise for Ashley and not rocking the boat for more ambition transfer wise, which any new manager will be expected to do as well, so I think we'll just end up with someone similar anyway. So as depressing as it is I'm a bit apathetic towards him going because even if he does I see no reason to expect a major shift in strategy or us to go for a manager who plays nice football. Just got to hang tight until we get a reckless bilionaire football lover. Obviously, if I was in charge, yada yada yada...
  4. Every forum needs a decent panto villain/WUM to provide stuff (Islamic sheds, culinary tips) for everyone else to take the piss out of, gets a bit dull otherwise.
  5. Well Cisse was actually better than 1 in 2 at Freiburg FWIW and was £9m. Doesn't have to be a 1 in 2, but his overall play isn't good enough if he's just contributing a goal every 3-4 games, which has been his rate for the last 2 seasons and which is what I'm saying I think he'll end up with again. There's potential quality available for a lot less than £30m, it's just always a gamble as to how well they'll carry their form over, like the differing fortunes of Bony and Van Wolfsvinkel last year, both highly rated, both completely different outcomes. I just think at this stage if it's one purple out one purple in I'd rather gamble on a new option than on Cisse getting anything approaching his Freiburg form back, and we're running out of windows in which to get a decent fee for him. Like I said though, I'd rather our transfer policy was just more ambitious but hey ho.
  6. I once had a Saturday job in Levi's during college, was called a 'Sales Specialist' and had to go to several training days where we discussed and practiced 'The Six Steps to Selling Heaven'. All I ever did was fold jeans.
  7. In regards to Cisse, if we're still operating within our usual policy of a 'purple' quota, then I'd rather we rolled the dice on someone new at this stage. I don't think he's completely useless, he has a real knack of finding space in the box and finding a way to turn something goalward, but his overall contribution to our play is lacking and he'll be 30 in June. Started well this season but if I had to guess I'd say he'll get a ratio well below 1 in 2 by the end of it, so with our current transfer policy I'd rather we took £5-10m off anyone willing before his stock falls too low and put it towards a 25 year old. Obviously, I'd rather just keep him and hoy £30m on the next big thing but hey ho.
  8. Sell Cisse, buy a top French/Dutch league striker to replace him please Michael, if you're listening.
  9. Add 5% if you're trying to sleep with your dining companion. Find the more difficult ones to judge are your cheap chain places ala Nandos or Pizza Hut where you've still got a waiter but they basically just bring you your food and smile, yet they're obviously not paid a lot and rely on their tips, and food is so cheap it almost seems insulting to give 10% of £7 or something. Feels weird tipping a grown man/woman a pound for some sweeties.
  10. I read the Guardian, live the Daily Mirror life. Sounds grim.
  11. Usually think his quotes get overanalysed a bit, but it's a shame he's ended that with 'have young players saving us money' rather than perhaps winning us some games or something.
  12. He's a decent all rounder with some limitations who would be useful in any of the top 4 squads but never one of the main men basically. I remember the 2010 World Cup in particular there were a lot of embarrassingly over the top negative reactions to him getting any game time.
  13. Milner's one of those funny players who's actual ability and form hasn't really changed that much for the last 6-7 years, but the public perception of it has. Seems he goes from being a 'talentless workhorse' to an 'underrated important cog' and back again quite regularly.
  14. Wasn't directed at you BTtW, just a lot of the online reaction in general.
  15. Don't like the amount of venom directed at these women, it happened with the first few who came out about Savile over here and from the comments sections the majority of the American public (or at least the kind that comment on newspaper articles) seem to be reacting the same. In one breath saying how they know the accused just isn't like that and the woman is seeking attention/cash, and the next saying if it were true why didn't they say something at the time, when the accused was even more popular, powerful and loved. It's fine to not believe the accusations, but don't attack these women and then seem surprised when they are reluctant to come forward.
  16. Much harder to judge a CB over a handful of games than an attacker, has looked decent so far though.
  17. 'French Fella Acapella', starring Remy Cabella.
  18. Whatever you think of his style football, results/trophy wise he's unquestionably 'special' if your accepting being in say the Top 5 club managers of the last 15 years as 'special'. Depends how special your classing special as I suppose. His achievements with Porto weren't due to cash, Inter were hardly throwing hundreds of millions around and while he's been well funded at Chelsea and Madrid, it's not like he's been competing against poor little minnows in those leagues.
  19. The babadook - really great acting, laugh out loud moments and genuinely terrifying. 9.5/10.
  20. My investment in the BackPardew.com domain name looking smarter game by game
  21. Love Abeid being a bit of a Cath*, both to Yaya and with the boot, but I feel the last thing we should be doing to a team of top class players seemingly unmotivated and lacking concentration because it's an early round of the league cup, is to be pissing them off so they have a personal vendetta to absolutely destory us. Edit* bit of a Cath, apologies all.
  22. Well, he's made the last page of Toontastic's finest look a bit silly. For now
