  1. Except when you had to beat, erm, Iran. I don't mind a World Cup with 32 teams, the world's a big old place after all. The Europeans with 24 is just ridiculous though. Why bother with qualifying at all? Just send the 16 biggest European teams through automatically and let the minnows fight it out among themselves for the scraps...

Brioche tbh. Souness said he wanted Hovis, a 'proper bread', but FFS got Brioche instead. What a waste of money. Foreign rubbish. Trophy baking.
  3. She's a lovely girl, I interviewed her this week. Been following her trajectory ever since she was on Aussie Idol. Glad things are going well for her...

  6. Speaking as someone who came through a university course with a 9:1 female:male ratio and now works in an industry with a similar statistic, I couldn't agree more.

  13. Haha! "I'm the one you thought was a bloke then thought was a lass then thought was a bloke again" isn't the most conventional of chat-up lines, mind.
  14. Aaaand that's why some people live in London and others don't. Now be quiet, both of you.
  15. Bit of both - I'm here because my fella was still studying here when I moved back to be with him. He's done now, but there's still more opportunities here than elsewhere in the charity sector he's landed in, so it's London for the time being. Neither of us bears any illusion that we'll be here long-term, but as something temporary to make the most of, we're making the most of it rather than being miserable. Trust me, I am too. On the flip side, the music scenes we're into - country/Americana, for one - often see people playing London then buggering off to Ireland for five days before flying back to the States. And for all we may have the likes of Stevenage and Dartford on the doorstep, there's also dirt-cheap flights to every corner of Europe to the extent that you don't get from Newcastle (unless your vision of Europe is limited to a dozen cities tops), so...
