  1. After watching the vid on Youtube and seeing him play for Russia, he is very similar in style to a certain Mr Beardsley.
  2. I really enjoyed the match last night, high tempo, commitment and a few great individual performances, Smith take a bow he was all over the park making challenges, closing people down and winning almost every header that he went for, deserved a goal for his efforts. The ref had a good game as well he didn't pull up the slightest challenge and let the game flow, I thought Adebayor put his arm across Beye and was leaning in a case of 6 of one half a dozen of the other. I am not getting carried away but last night showed that the players are behind the manager so at least one rumour coming out of St James' has been rubbished. We now need to have the same attitude in our next 4 fixtures which are all winnable, obviously we need a playmaker in midfield and a quality wide right player but hopefully this will be addressed in January.
  3. Obviously the only music you've heard is what your dad left you By the way you forgot Otis and Marvin. You are right about Otis and Marvin I am a little older than the average poster on here, but IMO you can't beat a real soul singer.
  4. Chinese is OK but I would rather have an Indian, but my favourite food has to be Italian/Mediterranean type food.
  5. Ella Fitzgerald Bobby Womack Sam Cooke Aretha Franklin Curtis Mayfield Nat King Cole Smokey Robinson Bonnie Raitt
  6. A true gentleman and a very good manager. Its a pity we couldn't of got him in after Keegan left.
  7. Plasmas use a lot more energy than LCD or so I have been told.
  8. Danish engineers find low-tech speed limit fix Making motorists stay within the speed limit is a problem in every country. But not every nation brings the same level of creative problem-solving to the issue as Denmark. With 70% of motorists going over the speed limit, traffic engineers decided that something had to be done. To the rescue come the Bikini Bandits, who are trained — and dressed — to get motorists to slow down. As a hilarious video by the Danish Road Safety Council shows, the solution is not without problems of its own. Note: Not safe for work, reveals bare torsos. Play the video http://www.speedbandits.dk/
  9. Watched the last in the channel 4's Meet The Natives last night and I have to say it's probably the best programme that I have watched in the last 5 years.
  10. Can we not appreciate true genius when we see it regardless of who they are playing for? Personally I love football first and foremost the joy it gives me playing and watching the game. Bergkamp great player as was Zola, Cantona, Keane:blink: yes I hated some of them but I would of had them at Newcastle in a heart beat. Great vid by the way
  11. I would buy myself a nice little house in Greece.
  12. Concurred. I'm beginning to wonder whether both he and Barton may work in the centre together. Geremi needs to be pushed out on the right (Milner's lack of pace is beginning to get on my nerves) and Butt should be dropped. I thought Butt had a very good game yesterday, I don't like to see wide players not playing on there natural side and I thought Nzogbia let Baines get around the back of him for Evertons first goal too easily, this I think was due to being a left sided player on the right. Faye and Cacapa looked very good in the middle and Enrique looks like a very good left back. All n all a good win and I think we are moving in the right direction, hopefully with the return of Emre, Barton and Duff this will give us the creative spark that we have been missing.
  13. Saha! Martins! Ashton! as good as Rooney? Oh well if you can't see the difference there's not a lot to be said. As far as not shining since Euro 2004 he went into the last world cup not fully fit and has had a series of injuries since, I think the trouble with a lot of people who criticise Rooney is that they hate ManYoo too much and are blinkered by this.
  14. Great result, after the disaster at Derby, West Ham always looked like they would score and it was great to see Viduka get a brace. Zog played very well and Beye looks like a great athlete once in the first half he gave an attacker 5 yards and sprinted to the ball first without any problem. As far as the Owen debate goes there is no doubting his ability but his priority has to be NUFC and if that means having an op now so that he performs to his full potential for us rather than nursing himself between England appearances then so be it.
  15. RIP I remember that FA cup final and was jumping up and down when he scored that goal.
  16. I know the statos on here will put me right! but hasn't Owen scored 9 goals in 15 premiership starts for Newcastle!! I would suggest that's a pretty good strike rate.
  17. Man U will finish in the top 3, OK they have had a slow start but Rooney and Ronaldo will be back soon and that will make a bit of a difference!!!
  18. NUFC is first a football club and second a business (some would put it the other way round) so to me it makes sense having Mort in to run the business and make sure that the funds are there for the manager and his team to buy who they want. I don't think it has to be a football man as chairman, if you look around the other clubs chairman not many of them have played the game, it is however important that they are passionate about what they are doing.
  19. I don't think Dyers heart has been in it for quite some time, yes he can be a very good player on his day, but he wants to play centrally in midfield and we have to make too many adjustments to make up for his weaknesses. His best position is on the right side of the midfield but he doesn't like playing there, he will need replacing but its not as if he has played every game for the last 4 years! best for all concerned if he moved on after all he is 28 with along personal and injury record. Wright Phillips anyone?
  20. If the Zog wants to leave then so be it, I like him but BigSam is better off with players that want to stay and be part of his new regime.
  21. I know it was a few days ago but I just found this and it really amused me. (apologies if you have seen it before) If this had happened in a US airport, compared to Glasgow Eyewitness accounts. America:"Oh my God! There was a man on fire, he was running about, i just ran for my life. I thought i was gonna die, he got so close to me" Glasgow "Bawbag wis running aboot on fire, so a ran up n gave him a good boot, then decked him" America:" I just wanna get home, away from here. I just wanna get home, I thought i was gonna die" Glasgow:" here shug, am no leaving here till am oan a f*ckin' plane!" America:" there was pandemonium, people were running in all directions, we didn't know what was happening thought i was gonna die" Glasgow:"F*ck this fir a kerry oan, moan we ll get a pint in" America:" We thought he was gonna blow us all up he had a gas canister, and was trying to get into his trunk, I thought we were gonna die, I just ran for my life" Glasgow:"a swaggered by the motor that wis on fire, and the dafty couldnae even open his boot, he wis in fire annaw so a ran up n gave him a good boot to the baws" America: there was this huge explosion, it sounded like war, I thought i was gonna die" Glasgow:" There wis a bang, yi know when yi throw BO basher intae a fire it wis like that" America:" I'm too traumatized even to speak, I thought i was gonna die" Glasgow "here mate, gies 2 minutes till a phone ma auld dear, if am gonna be oan the telly a want her tae tape it" & finally, two quotes from an eye-witness......... John Smeaton (these are real) John just surpassed himself on the National ITV news. The interviewer asked "What message do you have for the bombers" - he replied "This is Glasgow we'll just set about you" John done an interview on cnn and they asked how he restrained the guy and he said "me and other folk were just tryin to get the boot in and some other guy banjoed him" !
  22. Not too bothered about this news, we still need a physical presence in midfield even with the addition of Barton we are not the tallest in the midfield department (most of them could shelter from all this rain we are having under mushrooms!!) I think Big Sam will bring in another midfielder before the start of the season who will be over the 6 ft mark.
  23. Gazza, Beardsley, Bryan Robson, Bobby Charlton. All from the North East!! I might be a bit biased! but I don't think that is far wrong. Mind you I think we will all be saying Rooney in 10 years time.
  24. Since leaving here Bellamy didn't fit in at Celtic, Blackburn, Liverpool and now rumour has it that he wants to come back to us!! The man is a talented player no doubt about it but he could start a fight in a phone box! Best left alone we need to move on and the recent clear out of a few bad eggs was a move in the right direction, we don't need Bellamy back. The mans a prize tool.
  25. I don't know if I feel optimistic, but it sounds and feels right having Big Sam as our manager. Roeder was a case of lets see how it goes after doing a good job after taking over from that t--t Souness, but ultimately he didn't have any charisma what so ever to cover up his managerial shortfalls and was found to be out of his depth. I think we all agree that NUFC needs a complete overhaul and I hope that Big Sam has the qualities and the balls to do it, get rid of the dead wood, change the behind the scenes staff and running of the club be that fitness, diet, training hopefully he can get them all pulling in the same direction which obviously hasn't been the case for a few years now. Good Luck to you Sam
