  1. Really? What did you have? Admittedly, mine doesnt drive as nice as the BMW but I wouldnt say it was awful. It drives surprisingly well considering its size imo and still manages to drive like a car. The 1.6 petrol is apparently woefully underpowered, as is the 90bhp 1.6 diesel (I made sure I got the 110bhp version) so if you had either of those - then I can understand your comments. Performance aside, what I really like about it is the practicality for kids. In hindsight, I'd have gone for the 2.0 and paid the extra tax (£150 over £90 for mine).
  2. Yeah, mine just timed out too, with 1sec left to go. I remembered that my AV seems to get in the way of the updates, from past experience; so I've disabled it for the duration of the download. Now telling me it'll take 2hrs....
  3. Having driven both a Lexus and a BMW, I can confirm they are rubbish/great fun in the snow. In fairness though, the problem is not down to the manufacturers (merc included) but down to the fact they are all rear wheel drive. RWD cars are all rubbish in the snow and poor in the wet, but handle excellently in the dry - generally much better than FWD cars. Mind you, I threw my BMW round a small r/b deep in snow near my sons nursery in Dec 09 and I swear we nearly got Charlotte early! Mrs Paws nearly shit herself! Thing is, you learn to drive RWD cars differently in the snow. You expect the arse end to slide out, so you use the momentum to get you round (as I did in the 2ft deep snow on this r/:jester:. You've got no chance from a standing start mind..... Didn't move mine for 8 days over Christmas/New Year this year as I live at the bottom of a valley.
  4. First car was an N-reg Rover 214SEi. Had the notorious K-Series engine which I managed to blow on about 58k Since then, I've had Puma 1.7 (yes, I know, girls car) BMW 316 iSE (company car) Lexus IS200 (probably the most fun car I've ever had, but damn did it drink petrol) BMW320d SE - which I recently got back from the Missus. Cost me a : Ford C-Max 1.6 TDCI Zetec though. Makes sense as Mrs Paws tends to ferry the kids about, so for the last couple of years I've mostly driven her car and she's used the BMW. Her car was also a Puma 1.7 (different to the one I had - almost identical though ironically). If I get this job in Manchester, I think I'll sell the BMW and we'll run one car. I can get the train so it's a pointless expense. Back on topic, the C-Max is fucking brilliant though. I've never understood why people have insisted on buying massive 4x4 or MPV's when they only have 1 or 2 kids, but now that I have kids; the C-Max makes so much more sense. Far more kid friendly. However, as I put the car in Mrs Paws name, I can legitimately say I've never owned an MPV I also bought it thinking that it would mean I can get myself something more fun next year, after we move house. Then my contract got pulled
  5. How? If I plug it in now will it update? I was going to ask that. According to the Apple site, it's not out yet? If I upgrade, it will wreck my JB, but thus far, I'm not sure how much I'd miss it. 'Spose I'd have to buy Cogs and Angry Birds legit; but that's hardly a showstopper.
  6. Well, we have to play them at OT at some point; might as well get it out of the way before we're desperate for the points. Regardless of the players SAF rests/doesn't rest; their B team will beat us unless we strengthen over the summer. I hate the doom and gloom. I hate not feeling at all confident and I hate the feeling that we're going to get tonked. FFS we are NUFC and we were better than this. I should be happy we're promoted, but the current recruitment plan (read lack of) leaves me to look forward to a season of nail biting, let downs and despondency.
  7. Love the bass line in that one. Andy Fraser was/is a great bass player. Rather than just play the root notes, he plays a lead line of his own; which plenty of players do now but I'd argue not many did during the late 60's/ early 70's. John Paul Jones and Jack Bruce are two others from that era I can think of, but thats about it.
  8. I think I might have said this before, but that track is one of my all time favourites.
  9. A recently acquired copy of Bad Company Live - Hard Rock Calling filmed in 2008. On in the background whilst I work. They sound tight and Rodger's voice is fuckin' spot on. I'm gushing a bit, but Rodgers is a musical hero of mine and they were class when I saw them with my Dad in April (and the hair's just gone up on my face typing that ). Its on special at Amazon for about £9 for the DVD & CD.
  10. If the Koreans had better finishing skills, they would have at least drawn that match. Some of their shooting was awful. Maicon's goal was a cross, just look at his eyes. He was trying to play it into the 6yd box. Them's the breaks though. I feel for the Koreans though if the NK Govt follow through their stance on only showing games NK win. They deserve to see their teams performance as they acquitted themselves well I thought. On a different note, I'm pleased that all the games are on terrestrial TV only. ITV have their faults but at least all the games are available to all, which is they way it should be imo. Broadcasting them all in HD is nice too
  11. Aye, their first 2 albums were quality and then Jones started making it his own and changing the direction. Went downhill imo as they lost their edge. IIRC it was that which lead to Cable leaving. He wanted to keep it harder and Jones didn't & with Jones being the main contributor - he won. RIP. By all accounts he was a sound bloke and a canny drummer (his hero was John Bonham IIRC).
  12. Keeley Hawes. Hell Yes! I'd forgotten she was even in that video. Was never really a James fan mind.....
  13. Just bought that for my Dad for Fathers Day. Planning to take a sneaky copy once he's opened it
  14. Sammy, send me the file over and I'll have a look. We'll try and meet up during the week if you like and we can sit in the pub with a laptop
  15. Sold on eBay for £120 By my calcs after parking space, ebay fees, credit card fees, original purchase fees, admin charge and the the fee Ticketmaster charge your for the air you breathe whilst you buy the tickets I think I'm £150 down.
  16. Block 107 X26 Row W Seats 214 & 215 Guaranteed Next Day Delivery - about £5 I think. Car park spot - £10 and I'd need your car reg to swap the booking. We'd planned to go and have the grandparents look after the kids but Charlotte has decided she no longer wants to accept a bottle from anyone. After a week of perseverance on holiday with the grandparents, Charlotte is firmly in the "it's tit or I'll scream" camp Face value is £106/ticket. They are also up on Scarlet Mist before Ant gets his knickers in a twist, although I will put them on eBay to sell as I'd rather get my money back than not.
  17. Just bought a new car for the Mrs - 08 plate C-Max Zetec in Panther black. Traded her Puma for it. This will become the main car now leaving me to replace the BMW with something more fun As a result, I've also bought a Parrot CK3100 and the appropriate lead to connect it to the hifi. Decided on the CK3100 in the end as the C-Max has an audio in port so I'll just put the ipod through that unless its shit. On the downside, the day before I picked the car up my biggest client pulled the plug on my biggest project essentially putting the future of my company in jeopardy. Fuck it, I'll move onto plan b......... once I work out what the fuck plan b it actually is
  18. Ok, my Youtube trawl has uncovered some live footage of Slash's solo tour with Myles Kennedy on vocals singing some of my favourite GnR songs. Really, really looking forward to it now!
  19. Always prefered this tune myself. I loved GnR but struggled with some of the stuff on the Use Your Illusions albums. Once they started going all ballad-y with pianos and shit it all got a bit too Axl-centric and meaningful for my liking. However, from the same album this was quality: Got grounded when my Dad came from work one night to witness me, guitar in hand, amp and stereo at full tilt screaming Axl's little rant. Has brought a smile to my face just remembering it Currently trawling youtube listening to some GnR thanks to this thread. I've been listening to Slash's album a lot too. Its fuckin mint. Cant wait to see him next month.
  20. Yeah, although iif it had been placed in the middle beneath the Puma it would have been better Agreed. I quite like it. The white one rumoured earlier looks nice imo. I dont like the collar, but I'd chose it over the cape. I'd hoped for either the simple crew neck as on the Spurs shirt or else the crew neck with the little lapels that the Chelsea shirt had earlier ( I think spurs did too).
  21. Poking around ebay has unearthed a cable which allows you to retain the use of the controls on your steering wheel - only £10. Just waiting for them to come back and confirm it will work on the Parrot MKI9xxx series kits with the external iphone/ipod cable. I'd get the cheaper 3200 kit, except I want to plug my iphone or ipod into the car stereo too.
  22. Currently listening to Children of the Sea - Black Sabbath on Rock Radio Manchester as RJD is their featured artist at 4pm for all of this week. Quality
  23. I'm on a client site and Youtube is blocked otherwise I'd give you some links to Rodgers. As for your last bit - I agree. As I said earlier, the operatic style of his voice sometimes irritated me, but irrespective of that - I can't dispute the man's talent. He was genuinly good. A bit of an unsung hero I suppose outside the rock circles.
  24. Definitely a strong contender, though I'd put Robert Plant , Steven Tyler and Ian Gillan in there too. I only really know Gillan's voice aut of those to any depth but I don't think any of them match Dio for "proper" singing - ie carrying a song without shouting/screaming or going full out. I was listening to the first Rainbow album this morning and his singing on Catch the Rainbow is breathtaking. Not wanting to hijack the thread - you'd have to include Paul Rodgers in that list. Particularly in respect to the bit in bold. Plant has waned in his latter years, but Dio definitely did not. They played a HaH track on Rock Radio yesterday (the whole day was dedicated to him) which was recorded live 2yrs ago (when he was 65). He was pitch perfect. His operatic style didnt always appeal to me if I'm honest, but as I said earlier in the thread; Dio had power as well as range - unlike many of his contemporaries. He also had the ability to do it live, for a whole gig too. I heard an interesting fact yesterday also. Apparently, Dio never needed to warm up. He just walked out and sang like that straight off the bat.
  25. I've been looking at the MKi series because the appear to come with leads to plug your iphone in as an ipod (as wells as USB based devices too) so you can play it through the car stereo. Has anyone done this? Can you use the stereo controls to skip tracks etc? I have a Dension iceLink in the BMW whikch works exactly like that, but I wondered if the Parrot kits will take care of both phone stuff and ipod stuff. I'm open to suggestions of other makes if anyone has any ideas.
