  1. If nothing else, I'm pleased with the idea behind his loan deal. Times gone past we'd have signed osmeone like him for 3 yrs rather than a loan deal until the end of the season. Doesn't detract from the fact he was shite, but at least he wasn't an expensive mistake. Silver linings and all that. Shame they forgot about that idea when looking at Leon Best.....
  2. Point of principle? It's the only reason I can think of sadly. I do feel genuinely disenfranchised by the list of useless cunts standing in my area. Vote, seriously. If for no other reason than you can justifiably complain about what happens next It irritates me when people complain about politics, MP's, decisions etc then say but they didnt vote anyway because they couldn't be arsed / didnt see the point etc.
  3. No, he's like the Ying to your political Yang
  4. Complete change of subject, but has something weird happened? I was sure I had a post directed at me from Problem Child last night before my ISP (Be There) decided to go down. Are any posts missing from this thread? Something about making a decision for the good of the country rather than yourself? Did I just imagine it? In fairness, I was tired last night.......
  5. CT is right in what he suggests above. There will always be a percentage of voters who will vote for the same party come what may and in many respects, it's the floaters who really determine the result. As he says, the best thing you can do is look at each parties policies and make an unbiased, untainted decision on them rather than their history or personalities. The personality is important, but ultimately it should be policy over person. Ignoring history is difficult but both main parties have had good/bad aspects of their past. Both parties have their supposed stereo-typical sides (and history will support many of them) but you can only make he decision on the things which will affect you and/or are important to you. If decisions were based on personalities, Clegg would be the winner (for being the best of a poor bunch); but thankfully, enough people decide their vote based on policies.
  6. Agree. Getting past the 100pt mark would be great, but the things that mattered (promotion and the title) have been secured. I too would take the opportunity to play more of the fringe players whatever the result. I'm not precious about the win (although, I'm sure those of you making the trek will justifiably disagree with me) and it would be nice to give those players some more experience - particularly Krul and Vukic.
  7. I'd use a proper Email Marketing tool such as MailChimp. They offer a PAYG service which is cheap for 1 offs. Using tools like this reduce the chance your mailout will be marked as spam or even filtered out completely. Mass mailouts from std email addresses generally get flagged as spam and can result in your address being blacklisted. This can effect the email you send/receive in the future as many spam filters will not accept email from blacklisted sources. Tools like Mailchimp come with templates and editors for you to tweak your design with and the templates are written to work across the major email programs. Getting email Marketing right can be difficult but doesnt have to be expensive. Sending emails out to companies from your personal email address generally comes across as rather small-time too.
  8. Congrats mate. While you're on, what numbers are you choosing for Sat
  9. I thought he did a lot better in the 2nd one. For about the first 60% of it Brown and Clegg were both attacking him and ignoring each other - which to me showed who they were most afraid of. Towards the end, Labour seemed to attack Clegg more. Mind you, I'd had a few glasses of wine by then......... EDIT: I was responding to Paddock Lad not Renton
  10. If only..... What it will actually be is: Game on in the background, you on the floor getting covered in shite and puke trying to change a nappy whilst attempting to watch the game. The bairn will be screaming it's nut off as you smear Bepanthen in it's eye for the 2nd time because you aren't watching what you're doing. You'll promise yourself you will sit and watch a match but inevitably, once the baby has settled and nodded off on your arm, you'll have missed Rooney's hat trick against the USA because you've nodded off and you'll awake to find the can of lager that was in your hand has emptied itself into your crotch as you fell asleep. Possibly....... :D Fuuuuuuuuuccckkkkk. I am expecting our lass to be on hand too, at least during the england matches. *googles Bepanthen.... A better plan would be to get her and the baby out of the house (via a liberal bribe in cash). "Here you go pet, why don't you take you and your mam out for coffee/lunch etc" Job done
  11. Alex may have 'd but after he clicked 'add reply' he called you a twat under his breath
  12. Totally agree on both counts. What I find laughable though is that Labour are berating Cameron for being a 'PR wizard'. As you point out, that particular strength helped Blair massively back in '97. IMO, that's what won them the election. I remember watching both Blair and Hague in the run up and Hague seemed to have better answers to the difficult questions but he had nothing like the stage presence Blair had. Watching Question time just before the election and Hague handed Blair his arse on a platter but when talking to real people he lacked the charisma and the ability to identify. Who can forget the weak attempt at identifying with the masses with his pint of bitter gaffe for example Did that all the time at PMQT. I quite like Hague, as it happens. Indeed he did. I liked him too but Blair was the Master of Delivery. I remember watching him doing some conference and he walked the stage in a similar manner to a stand up comedian. Sounds daft when I put it like that, but given that all the other politicians (even now) hide behind their podium, Blair's tactic was very refreshing. Didn't sway me to vote for him but I could appreciate his style.

  14. 0.08 - ultra safe. Still wont vote Labour though.

  16. The Black Crowes cover of Hard to Handle is class too thinking about it.
  17. I was led to believe that it was one of the bonus tracks on the Classic Rock version - it's not Shame really as Fergie's track on the album is canny. Oasis' version of My Generation was good although Liam would struggle with the 3rd key change when doing it live and their cover of Slade's - Cum feel the noise was also good. Noel did an acoustic version of You've got to hide your love away which was OK IIRC. As previously mentioned, Hendrix coving All Along the Watchtower is better than the original, as is Cocker's cover of A little help from my friends. Kula Shaker did a mint cover of Hush by Deep Purple. They really made it their own.
  18. They've clearly been reading my posts on how to choose screen names.....
  19. Slash's new album after buying Classic Rock. I'm really liking it, there are some class tracks on it. The opening track with Ian Astbury may cost me a new set of speaker in the car after I blow them The Fergie track shows a different side to her and even the Kid Rock track fairs better than I'd expected. Mind you, its still a track with Kid Rock on it........ A bit of a surprise for me are the Myles Kennedy tracks - of which there are 2. I had an Alter Bridge album off a girl I used to work with and ended up deleting it as I just couldn't get into it. He's got a great voice though hell of a range. He's going to front the touring band for Slash apparently. There's rumour going round that he was offered the vocals for VR after Weiland fucked off but turned it down to concentrate on his own thing. Shame, as he'd have been class. Many of the tracks are strongly influenced by the guest vocalist (although not written by them) - Ghost could have been a Cult track for example. I've been hammering it for the last couple of weeks and its not getting tired yet.
  20. That was my 1st thought too. I'm looking forward to seeing what Puma can come up with actually. Adidas have gone off the boil in recent years imo. I've not really liked most of our kits for a while.
  21. That looks very authentic. ( I wonder if Puma might be responsible for some of the kits doing the rounds in an attempt to gauge what their customers would like, I don't know, call it 'market research' or something, now wouldn't that be a revolutionary thing?). If they are monitoring our responses then I kinda like that one too. If we end up with that kit (including the red numbers) I'll break my current shirt embargo and get it.... as long as they release a baby version too
  22. Just spotted this thread too. Thanks guys.
  23. Thanks guys. Its been a little mental this last few days with visits and stuff. I have a favour to ask of you all actually, if anyone has a paper from last hTursday (pref a broadsheet rather than a rag; but I cant be too choosy at present) can I have it please? With everything going on, I never went out and bought one. The girls are home and settling in nicely. Its quite a change having 4 in the house now instead of 3. I anticipate we will now be at least 2hrs late for everything instead of the usual one from now on....
  24. Charlotte Elizabeth was born on Thursday morning - 02:34. She weighs 8lb10oz and is doing fine, as is Lisa. Sadly, I've run out of Champagne now and I'm forced to go out and buy more today My Mam has gone mental buying girly clothes, so I just need some NUFC jarmies now and she's sorted We havent decided yet if she'll take the number 6 shirt or number 11 though.
