  1. He'd want out anyway if a trophy-winning club like Chelsea comes calling. It's well known he has too many 'agents', people wanting a piece of his pie as tt were.
  2. Hopefully we can get this deal pretty much sealed on New Year's Day (don't know if the club are open then, pretty sure the FA aren't), or my productivity at work on the 2nd isn't going to be very commendable.
  3. I don't like really like darts much but I'd love to go to one of these events. Looks like one big party. Miss Piggy in the front row
  4. I'll be judging them come the end of the window. Think Ba out, Debuchy in isn't a bad start. We're crying out for someone like Debuchy (or anyone that isn't on Simpson's level or worse) and Ba was always likely to leave. Simple fact is that this will be yet another dismal window if we don't bring another striker in (we need another even if we keep Ba iyam). If Cisse gets injured/doesn't find his form... we'll have a choice of Ranger, Shola, XIsco and Adam Campbell...
  5. I think both Ashley and S+H take/took their policies to relative extremes though. Shepherd would pay silly money for someone like Luque and would blow all our sponsorship income on Owen. Ashley/Llambias will not give into a selling club even if it's just squabbling over £0.5-2m (i.e. Lille and Debuchy in the summer). In the long term Ashley's policy is better for the health of the club, but in the short term it's flawed.
  6. If you need cheering up, isn't there a Belta Bloke Thread (NSFW) or something like that?
  7. Read a few Chelsea fans who say they're disappointed they'll get Ba and thus not Falcao (this window at least). Just sums them up really. As does this smilie:
  8. Hasn't done us too badly to be fair. We're not a wealthy club who can buy shallow success like Chelsea can.
  9. I'm sure he'll happily warm their bench for twice his NUFC weekly wage. Think you're attaching too much weight to one result by the way, especially a result that was far from certain until the 84th minute. Players will be told of transfer plans beind the scenes, they can probably make their minds up about progress based on that.
  10. Think he was always going to leave to be fair, good age to join a top club and has history with wanting out for a higher wage, Just a shame it's to that lot, and not Galatasaray or something. I absolutely despise Chelsea (almost as much as I hate Liverpool) and thus I'll be wishing Ba nothing but the worst along with his new teammates should the deal happen.
  11. Ba's fee will cover the cost of Debuchy. Business for the window done. Hopefully the above isn't the case.
  12. To be fair, at least we know we'll have Steven Taylor back soon. Simpson pretty much is our only option at RB, regardless of injuries to others. Maybe Tavernier can do a job there, I'm not so sure.
  13. I didn't say the subs were a good idea. In fact the next sentence has me telling you that in my opinion they "didn't work out". I just meant at the time I could sort of see why they were made, so they weren't completely 100% pointless subs as some seem to think. I'm not that bothered about what Pardew says about the players to the press. What I care about is what he tells them behind closed doors. No idea what he said but I doubt he just went "it's alright, lads, I'll let you off because you worked so hard at Old Trafford". You're right, fatigue doesn't excuse stupid mistakes. Like I said, it's just one reason we lost, but a perfectly legitimate one. Perhaps if Ashley had invested more in the squad, we'd have more to choose from when injuries weaken the squad.
  14. Should give Simpson away to whatever club is nearest to Tulisa's mansion. Would suit all parties.
  15. Better late than never... How much better off we'd be if we'd sorted this out in the summer doesn't bear thinking about.
  16. He put on a striker for a CM as we were a goal down - what's so awful about that? Yes, it didn't work out, in retrospect he could have done something else. Of course he's handing them an excuse. Like I just said, it's a man management thing. Criticising hem directly after every match won't help them. Not sure why you're struggling to understand the effects fatigue can have on players. Especially if the team is ravaged by injuries, put in a lot of effort on a heavy pitch against Man Utd, and played against a team who have a bigger squad and had more time off. Also a team who sat back and didn't exert themselves for the first hal of the match. As for Pardew - are you another one who attributes all he's achieved as being down to luck, yet will happily attribute all the team's problems to the man? Great, welcome to the forum.
  17. Still 'only' 5 points between us and the top half. We'll find some form soon enough and get out of this mess. Sounds like Debuchy might actually be a goer too, although I won't get too excited just yet.
  18. That you on the left? Rest in peace.
  19. There's absolutely nothing CT is bringing to the party other than idiocy at the minute. Refreshing comments poor, banter poor, football knowledge poor. Wouldn't want to panic ban him with nothing better lined up, but he has to go sooner or later.
  20. It as an excuse, though. A totally legitimate one. It's not the only reason we lost 7-3 though, and Pardew knows that. I've not read his post-match comments but if he was laying most of the blame on fatigue then there's probably a bit of man-management in there - he's not having a go at no doubt very disappointed players. He'll make them feel better about themselves. Again, of course it played a factor. Not the only one, by a long shot but it didn't help.
