  1. Fort Lauderdale Strikers have played two. Lost the first game and earned a draw in the second game in injury time with a penalty. Now the team is on a road trip for about a month before coming home and playing the "derby" match against Tampa Bay.
  2. That's why I posted it. I had heard that Mtv was going to be producing a show called Geordie Shore which is based on the Jersey Shore over here. My apologies.
  3. Don't count the pubs out. If it is a sports bar, you won't find any open that hour. If it is a "proper" English Pub (as in it is owned or caters to the ex-pats) they will probably be open at that time. Generally, the English pubs around me are open and serving breakfast and beer around 7:30.
  4. Will you be going to many Stars games, Zathras?
  5. Fat Mike needs a new set of Mickey Mouse ears. Llambias wants to ride "It's a small world." I'll stop now. I am sure it has to do with the "Wizarding World of Harry Potter".
  6. Right now it appears that there will be a group of four or five of us going from my area. Hoping that there will be more matches scheduled than just the one. MIA, I got your email and will respond. Sorry that it has taken so long.
  7. Happy to be the first American on an English message board to welcome you to the country!
  8. I am in Boca Raton. About 45 minutes north of you on I-95. I meet up with some Geordie ex-pats and watch the matches at a local but haven't gone as far south as you. If for any reason you find your way up this way, we usually meet at The Lion and Eagle for matches.
  9. Tore my ACL two years ago playing football/soccer. A replacement ACL surgery and three months physical therapy and it still isn't the same as before. While I was in surgery, the doctor told me that I already had the signs of arthritis... at 32 years old. Now my knees grind when I go up the stairs.
  10. The original website is a lot better. shitmydadsays.com
  11. They have recently change the name of the local club from Miami FC to the Ft. Lauderdale Strikers to go back to the team that was here during the NASL days... even going back to the red and yellow hooped kits. As a campaign, the club hosted a pub crawl which stopped by the one we were watching the toon v everton match and they made quite the impression. Season tickets are only a 100 dollars so I might give it a go.
  12. Some favorites: Always get it in England but a brewery in the US recently started to offer it over here and it is pretty close to the original! I don't think this would be available in the UK but it is excellent! Especially on a nice summer day. And I apologize for the size of the pictures...
  13. I didn't go all that often as they weren't that popular where I grew up (around Atlanta) but a friend was the house DJ at Legends in Newcastle for a while and have heard some interesting stories...
  14. My first (and only game, unfortunately) was the Intertoto match against Lillestrom, July 15, 2006. It was a draw 1-1 with Luque scoring.
  15. His kids were taken away from him last night according to the radio this morning...
  16. Nah i've never been to yankland either mate. Along with Sydney, NYC is one of the main cities in the world I want to visit. We're going 28th may - 3rd June straight after my summer exams. Just booked up Statue of Liberty today, going to try to book most other things fairly sharpish too to guarantee good seats. Going to broadway show, Mets game etc... Hope you save plenty of your spending money for Vegas mate It's lucky we're doing Vegas last otherwise I could have ended up a bit financially buggered for the trip. Was reading up about Miami yesterday, meant to be really expensive if you don't know where you're going. If you (or anyone else going to Miami/Orlando/Florida in general) needs any tips or advice, let me know. Just live up the road a bit and know some places that the in-laws from the UK seem to enjoy. As for me... going to "lovely" Portsmouth for three weeks or so with a trip to Manchester for a wedding and hopefully another little trip up to Scotland to stay with a friend up in Inverness area. Later on in the summer, a trip to California for wine tasting and then finish it all up in the mountains of North Carolina before going back to work in August.
  17. Good post. Couldn't agree more.
  18. I'm AmericanMag9. I don't usually "tweet" anything but probably will the more I use it. I post on Twitter/Facebook probably as much as I do on here. i.e. A member since 14/9/06 with only 617 posts to my name.
  19. I honestly can't come up with anything positive to say about this whole sale. We don't have a squad that is overflowing with talent. We have had to rely on this sense of team spirit throughout the season to see us through. What will this sale do for that? Would it be a surprise to anyone if Barton (or Enrique for that matter) doesn't sign a new contract? 35 million is an incredible number and it wouldn't be that bad if it had been (even partially) reinvested right away on a stop gap but it wasn't. The message this conveys doesn't just get to the supporters of the club but to the players as well.
