  1. But you're in a privelged position allowing you to do this. Your taxiing and side hustles are pocket money (that's my impression anyway). You haven't really properly worked since you've posted on here. Fair play BTW. Most of us simply aren't, we've got mortgages to pay. You must be on the cusp of being a baby boomer too. It's progressively harder for gen x, millenials, and gen z's. "Time is priceless and we all waste so much of it." I know what you mean but howay, you're the master of this. Just wish I had more time to waste personally.
  2. I don't think I've ever seen a more tragic club statement. They say we're the gift that keeps giving. Fucking hell, talk about lacking self awareness. Hope this goes in STID S3.
  3. Just picking up on this, but how do we all feel about our place of work now? Talking to my wife and mates, and from my own perspective, work just feels to be getting progressively worse. I actually enjoyed working 20 years ago, never really got the dread, liked my peers for the most part, enjoyed the social life without it ever interfering with my private social life. I remember other people felt the same. Now if you work in the public sector you've endured 1 1/2 decades of austerity, worsening pay, worsening t&c's, abuse from the tory party and press. If you work in the private sector, good chance you were in a boutique company which has since been taken over by a larger company, and ultimately you are now the bitch of a US private equity outfit (applies to both me and Mrs Rents). T&c's eroded as you adapt to US working culture which is SHIT. Everybody my age just wants to retire as soon as they can. Younger people are struggling to get on the housing ladder and aren't starting families. This in the NE, not London. Out of 30 in our office, only 3 of us has kids. Maybe that's choice, maybe it's necessity, I don't know. Anyway, maybe this is just my own bias clouding things. Genuinely interested in how people feel about their work at present.
  4. I've heard she doesn't read her briefs. A large part of the problem with this government is that they are incompetent. The other problem is they are venal cunts. A lot of people have Badenoch as favourite to replace Sunak after the GE. I can't see her being anything short as disastrous as IDS or Howard were.
  5. I hated BB like. But aye, this is the only thing the kids have watched with me for ages. Wife hates it mind so still not the whole family.
  6. Gaslit on national TV for 4 weeks and dumped in front of 15 million viewers. Oh aye, and robbed of 50k. She'll be suing the BBC most probably.
  7. About five times. Typical woman, can't make her mind up. Got to feel for her mind. Losing 50k and getting a broken heart within the space of seconds.
  8. Really? Also, Evie should have known it was Harry from the start.
  9. She knew he wasn't a traitor. But it was still possible Harry wasn't and she couldn't face banishing him because of that. She went with her heart rather than her brain, ALWAYS a fatal mistake. That was by far the best reality TV I have ever seen.
  10. Yeah, really sorry to hear the Meenz, hope your redundancy tides you over and also if it allows you to study something new.... [not going to use that expression at this time, but you know]. You're in a good location for a lot of universities and as you're a graduate you might be able to do a masters in something you want to do (and will be useful) in a year? There are so many jobs that AI is coming for, its genuinely terrifying. I mean, we have the options to use this to achieve some kind of Roddenberry nirvana where humans can live for their own fulfillment, or some kind of Elysium dystopia where 99% of us live in misery. I know where what I'm etting on.
  11. Brexit news. Apparently the inital check on foods crossing the channel will start this week, causing increases in fresh food prices (fruit and vegetables) and probably lower quality as producers leave the market. Meanwhile, the rollover deal we from the EU with Canada has expired and as a consequence the whole deal has fallen through. Winning.
  12. Naah, private militia and machine gun posts are the way to go.
  13. Yeah, hopefully. Felt the same about Ferguson, hatedboth their mind games and petulance, but honestly would love to have a manager like that here (with the accompanying success of course). Magers like Pep who do great things and remain likable are rare as rocking horse shit. I guess maybe Bobby Robson had an effect on him, somehow bypassed Mourinho mind.
  14. Does sound like there is something more specific behind this.
  15. My FiL retired from BT somehow on basically 70% at the age of 45. Must be getting on 30 years now, how that works economically fuck knows. And of course he will have a state pension too now. It's why I get so fucked off with these boomer cunts, you can see them in town eating and drinking every work day. Instead of appreciating how good they've had it, a lot are just fucking gammon cunts falsely remembering "how hard they had it" and actively fucking over their children and children voting Brexit and Tory.
  16. Make sure you chisel a PTO on the main side. Problem solved, no need for thanks. 👍
  17. I dunno why people are complaining about being posted in the Suez. Okay, it's not as nice as Sandy Lane in Barbados, but Sharm el Sheikh still has its charms.
  18. Right. These huge jackpots fuck me off. How greedy are people. I might enter it if it was 200 chances of winning a million (still life changes i.e. retirement here I come), not one chance in winning 200 million though.
  19. WHat's this 150, 200m shit you talk of?
  20. Genuinely thought you were retired. I'm going to an old colleagues retirement leaving do next month. He's 58, full NHS pension, jammy bastard. I want to wind down by 60, probably go part time if I can. Mortgage should be just about paid off by then and obviously I hope not, but good chance of inheritance. I feel sorry for younger people. Everything is just getting worse, including work conditions and housing. A lot of people will end up dying before they can retire.
