It's a great deal and tbf Sunak has done well brokering this. Thing is, the rest of the country are increasingly seeing what a bunch on unreasonable headbangers the DUP and ERG are now. I await the "Star Chamber's" ( ) verdict on tenterhooks.

I agree with both you and PL here. The obvious parallel is Man City who took a while in an arguably easier era. But the top looks more over crowded than ever now in terms of teams being owned by hyper billionaires or soverign wealth funds, and its always a concern that NUFC really doesn't have the best legacy or geography to compete. Which adds to my sense of urgency which PL alludes too. Basically, have we missed the boat? Otoh, it's difficult to imagine PIF won't pull out the stops to not even compete at the top, but win. Otherwise I'm not sure why they are here, niot to make a profit I'm sure. Que sera anyway, its only a fucking game, and I mean that. There are more important things.

Sunak says being in single market and UK makes Northern Ireland 'world's most exciting economic zone' Hold on, isn't that exactly what the rest of the UK also had before Brexit?

"It's goals that count, innit". I'll never forget the Chelsea wankers coming out with that on the tube back from Wembley in 2000. And tbf, it's impossible to argue against. As an aside, I wonder what the xG would have been that match at home we had against ManU when we effectively lost the league in 1996. The one where Smiechel was super human. Can someone work this out retrospectively so I can comfort myself?

Were they? The first goal was horrible for all sorts of reasons, but there was the whiff of offside about it. Admittedly it was a fantastic free kick, the type we used to be able to produce more often, very hard to defend against. The second goal was pure luck. And I don't recall Karius being troubled much after this. They deserved to win, without a doubt, xG is not actual goals. But let's not big up ManU. The game was settled on fine margins.

Whilst I want peace and prosperity in Ireland, this could be great news. These fuckers are so fucking blind to tactics let alone strategy its fantastic. Let's hope they take the tories down with them.

Yeah, he's a technocrat, like Starmer. 2024 the Battle of the Technocrats beckons. Although I agree he is pragmatic and believes in evidence based policy to some extent, I still find it confusing how this could make you think Brexit was a good idea, but I guess it depends on what you are trying to achieve in the first place.

Deal agreed, now over to the resident nut cases. Should be good news for NI and science (readmittance into EU Horizons scheme. What could possibly go wrong* at this stage? * Actually, although sarcastic, I don't think the ERG have the space now to oppose this. I expect the DUP won't want to ratify this mind as I just don't think they will ever accept being the junior partners in Stormont.

Tone deaf. ☝️

Tone deaf. Eeeh ewerk, what you Irish lads and lasses like?

Uncle Dave. What a thundercunt. In other news, I'm more impressed by Starmer today telling some home truths. This was from his speech: "We need to be frank about the path of decline the Tories have set our country on. The British people are falling behind while our European neighbours get richer. In the East as well as in countries like France and Germany. I’m not comfortable with that. Not comfortable with a trajectory that will soon see Britain overtaken by Poland. Nor am I prepared to accept what the consequences of this failure would mean". Explanatory notes below. Twenty years ago seems like nothing to me. In 20 years, we may be poorer than fucking Romania! Staggering incompeternce by the tories. World Bank data shows that the UK had a GDP per capita of $44,979 in 2021 (latest available data) compared with $34,915 in Poland, and $33,593 in Hungary, and $30,777 in Romania. UK GDP (Gross Domestic Product) per capita grew at an average annual rate of 0.5% in real terms from 2010-21, compared to 3.6% for Poland, 3% for Hungary and 3.8% for Romania. Assuming these trends continue, by 2030, the UK will be around US$600 (PPP adjusted) poorer per person than Poland. By 2040, the UK will be around US$12,000 and US$8,000 poorer per person than Romania and Hungary respectively.

Naah, don't rest your CBs unless there is good reason to. We're out of all the cups now so there is no need to. A settled defence is what got us here. Whether you swithch big Dan for Targett is a different matter. Worth bearing in mind that for me the defence didn't let us down yesterday either. First goal I think was offside and the second was just a freak thing you can't legislate for. ManU are now a very good side, arguably on the the best form in the league.

So if I've got this right in #mackem logic land, playing in the new Wembley against Spurs doesn't count, but it does count in the overall playing at Wembley count?

Completely agree with the post and sentiment. I somehow always managed to avoid really hating ManU until now but my GOd what a bunch of cunts some of their fanbase is. Not all cos I'm currently sat in the office with a ManU fan and she's alright, but then she is a genuine manc and come from a family of ManU supporters so I've no truck with that. If you have to single out one player who has let us down in recent weeks its Wilson. He could have been the difference yesterday and I'm really questioning why Howe started him, must be doing something different in training I guess. Isak look like a fine player but I'm not convinced he's a number 9. It's difficult yt be successful without a proper centre forward. I'd like us to buy at least one quality player in this position. Biggest fear now is can we pick ourselves up, will this have released the pressuire or will apthy set in? I can't see a successful result for us at the Ethiad next week and by that time the gap between us and 4th might be menatally unassailable. And I know we should be delighted with a lower Euro spot, but this will bring its own issues next year. Oh well, at least I'm not hung over this morning, just full of cold instead, typical.
