I'm beginning to think @Rayvin and @Dr Gloom may be right here, we should be offering more militarily, especially in the air. I'm sure a few F22s, F35s or typhoons could reek havoc on these soviet helicopters. I've played enough Advance Wars on my DS to know that. But I'm not sure what we can do without US help here mind. I certainly think we have let the Ukraine down, and whilst I understand the reason, I can't stop feeling our nations should be ashamed. Edit: for @Meenzer's benefit.

I've had a few memes like this. Given what the French lost in both world wars, its really not true or funny.

Just listening to this. At 1.45, when he says Putin is accusing them of being nazis, I'm sure he says "utter bullshit".
-
Watching the news there, so depressing. Have to say Putin looks positively maniacal. Best hopenhas to be he is taken out from within.
-
It's okay lads, we have Boris Churchill leading us to victory.
-
Look at the likes going up on that tweet. Arrest the likers too.
-
Arrest this cunt for treason. Seriously.
-
Wasn't going to be played there anyway. [pedant\]
-
This is my take too.

So that's the Baltic nations and the "stans" left to go? Very much doubt he has the capability to do any of that.
-
Yeah, but I'm really not sure the number of troops is relevant. Air and done power will be. You need troops on the ground for occupation, which we don't need. I realise we're all sounding like armchair generals here btw, I'm not even on the Dunning Kruger curve here, I'm just thinking out loud.

I think we're playing up the Russian's military strength here. After all, the USSR is dead and the Warsaw pact has switched sides, which obviously is what eats Putin up. The Russian economy is less than Italy and the US have been outspending them on defence by magnitudes for decades. That said, NATO is not and never was set up for offensive reasons. It is much more than a match for Russia defensively though.
-
Sounds good to me, but I know fuck all how these things work, admittedly.
-
He adds: Air support may come I guess. One thing is for certain though is the fog of war means it's impossible for any of us to appraise the situation.
-
And here's another fact I never knew, Ukraine has a population of 42 million, the vast majority of which do not want to be occupied. Honestly, I don't know how he could hold onto it?
-
What about Ukraine stopping him. An army of 250,000 soldiers with indirect Western support.
-
The line in the land is a NATO country man. The treaty would oblige us to act. It's quite an important piece of paper. The idea that Putin is going to roll up to the Brandenburg gate without opposition is silly. It's massively doubtful he can even take Ukraine imo.
-
If there is even a 1% chance of the latter happening I don't want to risk it. I would supply Ukraine with anything they ask for, and have a huge crackdown on all Russian assets and people in the West. These cunts will still be out shopping in Harrods today and sending Tarquinesky to Harrow after half term. They can get fucked.
-
Tbf the line was blurred in Ukraine already which facilitated this situation somewhat. The line against NATO countries is crystal clear. I would be sending in NATO troops now to Poland, the Baltic nations, and the Balkan nations, if we are not already doing so.
-
All for this. But the tories are up their nuts in Roubles so will never happen. Yet again we have the worst possible government at the worst possible time.
-
That's too vague. A ground counter-attack? Air war? What? If Putin starts losing AND it involves the US and NATO, then how do you think he will react?
-
Okay, how? You always seem vague on this?
-
Is Bond dead? FFS, spoilers.

No we're not happy but from my pov that is preferable to direct combat between Russia and NATO which could easily escalate to Armageddon. There's a lot of unknowns here as well. Just how strong is the Russian military, not in numbers, but in terms of technology. The US's defence budget has been in excess of 50 times that of Russia's for 3 decades now. Is it unfeasible that Ukraine armed with these gadgets could defeat the Russian bear? Always easier to defend than attack as well. Ukraine is a fucking huge country, no way can Putin control it forever given it's not liberation, it's occupation. There seems to be an assumption he is some kind of genius and has won already. I'm not sure that is true.

Putin really is a piece of work. If Ukraine really is so closely tied with Russia (it is), then why is he killing them?
