It actually cheered me up. Hope it's all true.

Wow, interesting to see this thread needing this much bumping, shows how the world is changing I guess. Anyway, more on my current tales of woe, can't seem to catch a break at the minute. My Dad's wake may have been a super spreader event. Worse, it was held in a golf club which tbh is only one step up from a care home in terms of people's ages and vulnerabilities. I mean, I have to see the funny side, but nearly all my relatives who hadn't already had it now have. My mum is quite ill in bed with it, monitoring her to see if she may need assessment or admission. Seriously, FML at the minute.

You You're right. It's just when I look at my kids I'm terrified at escalation to nuclear war. But then I see these Ukrainian kids, and realise they are already in it. And why are my kids more valuable than them? They are to me of course, but I'm ultimately a humanist. But just think now we have to twist, and call the bluff, or not, as it may be. Destroy Russias air capability, destroy those convoys. They would lose the war overnight. We can't stop nuclear escalation beyond this point, it's not in our hands. But as we all know, there's no rational reason for Russia to this. But if they're not rational, we've no choice anyway long term imo. Netter to treat a disease before it spreads.

Also what's the frequency. Absolutely ridiculous to suggest any European conflict is somehow localised. Ukraine has twice the population of Oz. Russia has more than enough nuclear weapons to throw over to Australia and even New Zealand. China is a fucking huge issue, but for me there's nothing to suggest that Jinping is off his rocker in the same way as Putin is.

Cheers for the kind words again guys. I'm sort of okay really, yesterday was the end of a chapter and from now I'm going to be proactive in looking after my physical and mental health. But yeah, the matter at hand. I don't have a problem admitting I was wrong. Putin has taken everything further than I imagined possible. Give him an inch and he takes.a mile. I'm increasingly of the opinion now we have to directly support the people of the Ukraine and engage Russia in war. I think we'd have complete air superiority and we could send him packing. If this triggers nuclear conflict, and I agree it probably won't (but of course might), it's a risk we should now take.

Dad now in the ground. Nuclear power staions in Ukraine now burning. Give me a rifle send me ro Ukraine. If I kill one Russian cunt before my head is blown off, it's worth it. We're heading for nuclear war anyway, no point denying it. So angry and scared. People need to wake up to what's happening.

Hope you're right. Does Putin have kids or grandkids btw?

It's tipped me over the edge actually. Got my Dad's funeral on Thursday, so much to organise and realised I literally can't usefully function at my job any more at the moment. Work have been brilliant and given me compassionate leave for the rest of the week, but I worry I'm not exactly making a great impression less than one year in. It has motivated me to see the GP (again), me and probably thousands of others. I also just hate the normalisation of lying in politics. Trump, Putin, Johnson, all lying cunts. I mean nobody really believed Putin when he claimed these were just exercises, but still the blatant lying is disgusting. There's no trust left in the world.

Okay, I admit it, I'm currently scared of the situation and how it could escalate. Putin literally has the look of a mad man to me, I want to believe his generals would stop him doing something even more insane than he already has, but I'm not convinced. 1% chance of a single nuke being used is 1000 times too much risk. We seem to be on a constant narrative where each new thing is worse than the one before. Global crash 》austerity 》 Brexit 》Trump 》covid 》 Ukraine. Honestly doesn't fell like a good time to have young kids. Just hope there is an opportunity for Putin to have an escape strategy here. He deserves so much worse though

Honestly, why is this tit still posting on here? The ignore function's not working either.

Pathetic man can't join the dots.

I hope so mate. Just never thought we'd be back in this situation after the cold War and feeling so fragile. Miss the afternoon beer with my Dad too. Mum gave me loads of clothes to get rid of and his cap has choked me.

Honestly CT, I really like your posts recently and your optimism is welcome But I'm worn down by over a decade of political shit. There's no end to it. Brexit, covid, and now Putin. I'm burying my Dad on Thursday, also interning my sisters ashes with him, and this shit makes me want to get in the coffin with them. It's so stupid but I don't need this shit right now. Humans have fucked everything up.

What's happening guys? I'm recovering from a horrible hangover after going out with my mate last night, somewhat a bimonthly activity. I'm hearing the Russians are basically defeated in Ukraine and Putin is now threatening to press the red button. Would he do it? Will his underlings carry out the order? I literally don't care so much about myself, but I'm really fearful for my kids. They're scared through osmosis too. I fucking hate Putin.

NATO's defensive mate. Like Ukraine, feet are already on the ground. I'm most worried about nuclear war. You worry about China, but I'm sure you'll be okay.

Man City winning, another good result for us hopefully. -
Shit farter? Did you think that up on the thunderbox whilst blasting out last night's Shiraz, by any chance? NATO is a North Atlantic group, obviously. Whilst the US has Pacific concerns,.it's a not that stupid to think that Europe is not also an important issue, especially after this week. It should be the biggest concern for every country in the world, even yours Europe has a huge population, with literally millions of soldiers (3.2 million in NATO, mostly European). UK has more than 150k troops alone. There are UK soldiers in all the Eastern member States currently. We wouldn't need US boots on the ground, although they would supply overwhelming air defence and intelligence. Russia are no conventional threat to us at all. China aren't a really a conventional threat to the US either. But nuclear weapons change things. I still don't really get what your point is. You admit NATO has been effective to until now, but are speculating about its failing in the future? Why? What are you getting at?
-
First sentence, where is that from? I said the most shocking thing, quite different, and obviously from my pov. Middle bit. I know, I'm not denying history. Last sentence. Obviously, what's your point?

I think practically everyone here condemned Iraq 2 as it happened, not afterwards. We had morons then like LM and HTL who supported it, they were both racist and gaslit though. Ukraine is something else though. A democratic European country invaded by its neighbour who have common blood and cultural ties. It is the most shocking thing to happen since WW2, in some ways the betrayal is even worse. It jas nothing at all to do with colour, race, or religion. However, the proximity of the war and the fact the bad guys are a nuclear armed superpower makes it a matter of even more concern.

I'm now convinced this isn't a winnable war and Putin has made a huge blunder. I was ignorant to the shear size and population of Ukraine.
