We were a total basket case. I doubt his agent had much bother getting the clause inserted

Given that, even in the first year of parachute payments they'd be something like £60m worse off that last bit seems unlikely and also, I think, explains why they're continually prepared to gamble on sacking their manager to stay in the league. And they got compensation for Allardyce which probably went a long way to paying for Moyes. In terms of a long-term plan then biting the bullet and sticking with what they would make sense but when has logic ever been applied to clubs in the Premier League? The new money just adds to all that. We'll see, I suppose. I would fucking love him to stay like.

Benitez certainly seemed to get a lot out of him.

If that argument held any water very few managers would get the sack in the first couple of seasons of their contract but the average length of time PL managers have been in situ is actually less than that, even taking into account the likes of Wenger. It's obviously not a decision he'll be happy about having to make though. Do you think Short's just going to let him keep losing games like? In theory you could say he'll keep him with next season in mind but in practice when does that ever happen? And would it work anyway given the negativity of having a manager who just got you relegated. That's before you even get onto the fans' view of him.

Aye but that was just you being contrary

Leazes was great crack when he was on about Tony Green and the like. In the end that accounted for about 1% of his output (which is probably being generous). He got himself banned really. A quick look at his twitter feed suggests it was best for all concerned.

Eventually all opposition is crushed on here. It's like North Korea

If they'd had a vote in Parliament instead of the shambles of the referendum then they would've agreed to remain by a huge majority. Now they'll all be banging on about :quotes:The will of the British people like that normally concerns them.

I wonder if they'll sack Moyes if they lose to Bournemouth. He can't have too many chances left.

The FA seem to be using this to attack Fifa, which is political in itself and demeans what it's supposed to be about in the first place (i.e. not jingoism). -
That's why it'll be a surprise

Actually agree that it's meaningless when it's forced (as this would've been) although that quite possibly wasn't his point -
"Geek passport" is a decent effort too.

Read a bit of Foucalt and Derrida at university. I wouldn't read it for pleasure like

Tell you what's a good introduction to philosophy if you haven't read it: Sophie's World.

I like the cut of his jib but 10 minutes on Youtube is enough for me.

L'Etranger is worth a read. It's a novel rather than a philosophical essay though. Which is probably why I think it's worth reading

Start with the Greeks as most of the others since are just discussing what they said anyway
