Very late to the party but I've just started watching Luther. It's a bit cheesy at times but it's pretty slick and entertaining enough (not unlike Ray Donovan in that regard). The acting's canny as well.

I do think about that sort of thing in relation to polls generally and wonder if they should be banned for a much longer period before a vote. I wonder if more people would have come out and voted remain if they knew Brexit was going to happen and the same applies re: Hillary. Obviously that's a hypothetical that can never be answered but you probably take my point in that if you thought Hilary / Remain were going to win going off the polls then you'd be more likely to think 'fuck it, I can't be arsed'. I suppose those people deserve what they get. Does everyone else though?

I read an article saying it was estimated to be 51-52%. I wouldn't know how that relates historically but thought it seemed quite low. I think even the figure you gave seems very low for a high turnout as well, if you know what I mean.

Apologies if this has already been mentioned but I read that the turnout for the election was only about 52%. Given the unprecedented profile I find that incredible. I also think it's a damning indictment on both candidates but, arguably, Hilary even more so.

I do think it's being made into a big deal when it should never have been. As has been pointed out, it's a new thing. It was never a tradition that the England team should wear poppies as a commemoration. Just have a minute's silence before the match to remember what it's all about instead of this pathetic point scoring thing with Fifa.

My lass and I started watching that Dark Angel about the mackem serial killer Mary Ann Cotton. After about 10 minutes in we had to stop it was that bad. The acting was wooden but you could hardly blame the cast given the script. There were bits along the lines of "Hurry up and finish ya stottie, pet". Everything looked immaculate considering the squalor they were (presumably) supposed to be living in too. There was this scene down the pub where it looked like they'd just filmed it in the local John Barras. It was absolutely gash

I think I heard it mentioned that it was the Founding Fathers who instituted it to give each state a say. It does seem a bit bizarre when you could have someone losing despte winning the popular vote by a huge margin (in theory at least) though. Although that could happen here but I think our system is unfair and undemocratic for that very reason.
