  1. I do think it’s bad they’re not allowed to even train during the ban. I also think that while it’s correct the ban should apply across Europe, Uefa as the central body should impose the bans for consistency.
  2. I message him all the time. We catch for a few pints, usually around Monkseaton/Whitley/Tynemouth every two or three months. Him and his lass were bang into camping but he’s onto his second caravan now so that takes up most of his weekends, usually in the Lakes, Yorkshire or Northumberland. He still loves his cricket but, even though he’s happy about Newcastle, the fans and boost for the area etc. he’s lost his passion for top flight football. Him and Catmag go and watch the cricket together a bit too. Durham plus the odd England test / T20 / ODI.
  3. I’m pleased for him. I would occasionally wonder how he was doing, as I know the prognosis was pretty grim when it happened. His favourite insult was ‘wank / wanks’, used as a noun iirc e.g. that set of wanks
  4. Aye but it’s also not easy coming in when you haven’t played much. Especially as it’s important to have a good understanding with your goalkeeper and other defenders. Particularly the other CB when you’re playing in a flat back four. You only get so much of that from training together. The high press and our dominance obviously helps massively but he’s looked the part rather than being a weak link
  5. I might be getting old fashioned in my dotage but it’s fucking horrific surely that they’d both do that to a stranger anyway whilst on a stag / hen do
  6. You’d think given their predilection for abusing helium they’d be a bit more understanding. That said, he’s doing his bit to sort out the crisis in the Middle East by putting a Palestine flag next to his name on Twitter. Because that really fucking helps. What are you doing?
  7. I remember going to a home game with my dad years ago when we were doing well under Robson. Anyway my dad drove into town and Jackie Charlton was being interviewed on (I think) 5Live before the game and he was on about how pleased he was Newcastle were doing well and how he was a boyhood fan. I wonder why he would make that up 🤔
  8. Predicted to win but an electoral pact would likely see him lose comfortably to the Lib Dems. I suspect it’s as much about having no interest in being in opposition as anything else
  9. You’re mistaken, mate. His only concerns are human rights abuses 👍🏻
  10. I see a lot of people on there are questioning Mowbray’s position again after a disappointing result at the weekend where we won 4-0
  11. I don’t mind the fans’ reaction (although I totally get what you’re saying). I think it can only help in terms of him wanting to come back and repay their faith and support.
  12. The PPE stuff really sums them up. It was the early days of the pandemic but it was already clear, just going off other countries, how grave a situation it was. Tens (hundreds, as it turned out ) of thousands of deaths were on the cards and their FIRST FUCKING THOUGHT was: how much money can we make out of this?
  13. Well Sunak’s just ‘celebrated’ a year in office so it’s probably time for a change
  14. They look like they deserve each other
  15. I thought he’d retired too. Not that I disagree with the assessment.
  16. It says it’s just for fun But while it’s not going to be quite that bad for the Conservatives I think a lot of polling suggested they’d hang onto Bedfordshire Mid
  17. I agree it’s probably a good thing but I think it’s more indicative of the dumbing down of politics than anything else.
