  1. One simply didn’t do that sort of thing growing up in Blyth, I mean Seee-tone Slowss
  2. It’s incredible isn’t it? I knew that because Jonathan Agnew ended up doing the commentary for London 2012 because the archery was held at Lord’s
  3. Commiserations and congratulations. I mean the other way round
  4. How many Cornettos did you have?
  5. I really hope the absolute fraud doesn’t get it.
  6. This lad knows his shit
  7. Look, they’re setting a framework for the narrative. Instead of going for shitty, headline grabbing popularism. They’re not interested in looking good to student wankers who’ll be Tories as soon as they’ve got a mortgage. Judge them by their actions. They’re quite rightly highlighting the economic obfuscation of the previous government. And, oh no! they’re not going ahead with a Boris Johnson hospital building project that was never funded or likely to happen. And they’ve already made public sector pay offers that are above inflation and have (hopefully) ended the jnr doctors pay dispute. The absolute cunts. That’s just a general rant which has absolutely no relation to me being directly involved on my first day back at work after two mostly lovely two weeks off
  8. What Labour really need to do is go back to being radical in opposition
  9. I’m sure Hayden’s been on loan for about the last three years as well
  10. This why they’re knackered for the time being and beyond. To win the contest you have to appeal to their membership. A lot of whom are insulated from the problems most people face. With a hefty dose of batshit crazy hoyed into the mix
  11. Well, if he doesn’t like this country and its laws….
  12. I once got his autograph at Peter Barratt’s at Gosforth Park. As an aside I also got Jockie Wilson’s at the same place (but not at the same time). On that bombshell….
  13. So they’re imagining not being bothered about seeing a Geordie in a place they’re imagining going to? Which proves they don’t think about us? Or something
  14. Read about that last week. What’s appalling is he received a (very light imo) 4 year sentence and was released after 12 months.
  15. Speaking of which, Hayden still has two years left on his contract
  16. Be funny if she defected then enough of her constituents wanted her recalled. I can’t see it going down that well as Reform came 4th in her constituency
  17. Bryan Robson was an absolutely superb player. He’s massively underrated these days imo. He had everything you’d want in a central midfield player including the ability to score goals when his team most needed it. Rumoured he took everything going as well drinking lager like it was going out if fashion.
  18. Read it before. Great read but might have another go at it, as it was a while ago. My personal take is they were all at it so their achievements stand, if you know what I mean. Carl Lewis was too. And he was the most self righteous cunt out of everyone. That said, I was absolutely inspired any him as a kid because of his achievements in ‘84.
  19. Aye, I caught about 10 mins of the Daley one so I’ll definitely be watching that too. Great memories of LA 84 in particular. That’s the first summer Olympic Games I can properly remember
  20. I think every single case should be viewed on its merits and within the context of what’s taken place. Which clearly wasn’t the case when loads of news outlets ran with this as their top story but only showed the footage of the assault by the copper. Who I think should also be prosecuted
  21. Tbh, I’m not too arsed as I think he’s probably doing the club a favour by going there now.
  22. A lot of people would’ve done a lot worse than what that copper did if you’d just seen a fella chin a couple of female colleagues. That doesn’t make it ok, as we expect high standards from people in that sort of position in this country. But I hope the lad he did it to gets serious prison time. As he absolutely deserves it.
  23. @Meenzer have you seen the Linford Christie doc on iPlayer? Highly recommended for anyone but I know Meenz is a track and field geek. Christie was a hero of mine growing up. I was a good sprinter / district schools 100 and 200m winner when I was a kid. Not that I was ever talented or committed enough to make it but it was another reason I looked up to him. I think him holding the World, European, Commonwealth and Olympic titles all at the same time is arguably the greatest achievement by any British sportsperson, let alone athlete. Given how competitive the 100m is. I don’t want to spoil the documentary by talking about it too much but the lack of funding and support along with the shoddy treatment he’s received, racism he’s had to confront etc. throughout his whole career and since he’s retired is just fucking awful really. Also, it really comes across just how much the athletes he coached like Darren Campbell and Katherine Merry love and respect him
