    Eddie Howe

I’ve checked out that much I’m not even particularly arsed about this
  2. Jones is hoying more petrol on the fire for selfish reasons. That’s about a far from being ‘spot on’ as it gets.
  3. I think I’ve said before he’s just a grifter at this point. But distorting something like this is truly cuntish behaviour. Leaving the Labour Party was a career move rather than a principled stance but this is genuinely the sort of thing that could lead to politicians coming to harm.
  4. Rumour has it the sight of your lugs brought back happy memories of winning the cup
  5. What I find absolutely crackers is his playing career started about 7 years before WW2 and he was still playing top flight football in the mid 60s. And I think he played his whole career in an era when subs weren’t permitted in competitive games. So you couldn’t carry players or have them make the odd cameo appearance
  6. Talking about other countries somewhat ignores that practically every general election we’ve had would’ve returned a progressive coalition.
  7. The weirdest thing of the lot is Allardyce never having returned, despite the numerous opportunities, to his beloved Sunderland
  8. Well he got the gig after Dan Adhworth’s first choice revealed himself to be solely motivated by greed
  9. They thank god for fucking everything. Like god made you win the Olympic gold medal because he wanted you to win and the others to lose? Why would a deity do that? And, if they did, like with ‘saving’ Trump but letting others die, why the fuck would you worship that?
  10. I apologise. It was more aimed at those still devoted to that tit. I get why people initially supported him. The two are not always the same. Re: Starmer he deserves a chance and his (possible) slow steady approach may be what is needed. Because too much damage has been done for any radical quick fixes to work. What I would say, and I’ve gone over this many times, is the real need for electoral reform and some form of PR. There’s not going to be a radical lurch to the left that ever fixes everything. Where has that ever really been a solution? If I take an example of a modern constitutional monarchy, like say for example Denmark , then you have a country that works well and has a happy populace in comparison to almost anywhere else. With very little corruption in government. Is this because of radical policies? No, there’s essentially a CENTRIST!!! agenda. It works because the parties have to work together and compromise. No party ever really having a majority means the government is constantly scrutinised by its own parliament. And unless we change our voting system we’re doomed to the cycle of middle England voting in what it perceives to be its own interests and perpetuating the decline we both want to reverse.
  11. The antisemitic cunt helped deliver Brexit is an equally valid take. Literally at least partially responsible for accelerating the decline. Absolutely incapable of doing anything and being happy / preferring to be radical from the safety of opposition is another 👍🏻
  12. Does it really matter if it’s supposed to be parody or not?
  13. You’re about my age and will no doubt have some vague memories of reading Shoot and Match, plus the annuals at Christmas probably. Back in the early to mid-80s there was definitely still a real reverence for Matthews and his era. I even remember a feature on Wor Jackie and reading about him practicing with a tennis ball. This got me thinking about how the waning of Matthews’ fame is probably as much to do with the passing of time as anything else. But what really made me think that is the realisation that, back then, we were much closer to the 50s than we are now to those days in the 80s there’s a cheery thought for a Tuesday morning
  14. Also, in my opinion, a better protest would be to leave Musk’s cesspit, because reporting stuff like that does fuck all
  15. I guess I thought of Corbyn because the cult around him is leftist and British. Not sure I’ve seen cultism re: Starmer. Like Biden he’ll actually be judged in delivery though. Not what might’ve been. Without wishing to reopen the Corbyn thing, there seems to be a lot of people old enough to know better who are still devotees. I get that they may want the policies but they would honestly have him back as Labour leader tomorrow. 5 years after he lost to Johnson and blind to his very obvious failings imo. I honestly don’t see what these people think they’re hoping to achieve.
  16. They were on about Clarke again today. One poster saying he’ll stay unless they get a bid north of £25m. And, if they don’t, he’ll go for £15-20m next summer when he has a year left on his contract.
  17. Think he was viewed as potentially the best. Matthews achievements and longevity were amazing though.
  18. Port Vale is Burslem, aye. I think it’s one of the only clubs in the league system that’s not named after an actual place.
  19. The day of the Headingley ton? Aye, I remember watching it straight after. Bit of a scuffed finish iirc
  20. You only need to look at the Corbyn devotees and their hatred of Starmer, etc to see it can happen here too. Presumably those people want problems like child poverty tackled but they’re still obsessed with a bloke that hasn’t got a snowball in hell’s chance of ever being in power
  21. I’m sure I recall reading only 5 or 6 of the squad even turned up for the recording of the song and the video being shot. Also, on the released version you can distinctly make out Gazza singing on the ‘Express yourself’ bits.
