i really really hope we don't sell carroll. not least because we'll never hear the end of it from you if we do
-
they don't come around too often. you have to enjoy them when they do. i'm chuffed we've got this lad in
-
bloody impossible to pick three. picking a top ten is difficult enough. here are three of my favourites and others in the mix fighting for top spot below) 12 angry men strangers on a train star wars (godfather parts I and II annie hall friday rear window the apartment chinatown full metal jacket rope)

tbf, the current system is all about carroll so signing those three players would alter the style of play massively. i'd rather we kept carroll obviously, but those three players plus cash, or a straight cash bid of 30m, both pretty decent offers for a player that's only had half a good season in the top flight is pretty good. the real sickener would be the message selling a local home grown player that's come through the ranks would send out.

Try being a bit quieter.
-
if that's the case, we'll have done alreet i reckon. then we'd be looking at a front 6 of this: bentley---tiote----barton----jonas -----------ben arfa ------------carroll or this: bentley---tiote----barton--ben arfa ------------nolan ------------carroll both decent line ups. hanging on to carroll is key.

anyone any idea when he's due to be back from his injury in the first team again?
-
there's loads of players that could come in for collingwood tbf. morgan is probably best placed but don't rule out bopara either. he's a natural number 6 so bell could move up to 5. he was always out of his depth going in at 3 in the last ashes series plus he offers some decent military medium pace bowling so is pretty much a like for like replacement for collingwood.
-
i'd like to think that the ben arfa is a sign of things to come and we reinforce the squad rather then letting any first team players go. previous windows suggest this probably won't be the case but there's no time like the present for ashley to prove us wrong and show us he has some level of ambition. i've got fingers and toes crossed.

shut up man, we've bossed every test match other than perth and the first innings in brisbane. don't you agree now that our bowling attack has been better and that's what has won us the series? that said, i've been surprised at how many loose shots your top order has played through out. too many players that know better giving their wicket away where for us it's mainly just been colly and pietersen. agree bell should have walked but don't forget the current aussie skipper did the same a couple of test matches ago. is he a cunt too? not everyone is adam gilchrist, and that's a shame, but lots of top pros would have done the same. Settle down, man. IIRC, that's twice you've brought that up now. OK yes, England's bowling attack is better, don't need to be a supa-analyst to work that one out, but didn't you say Australia's batting was better with which I disagreed with? Go on, look back now. nah, i never said your batters were better. just that they were more suited to playing in aussie conditions. our batters' failings to playing extra bounce were exposed in perth but other than that we've batted better and that is mainly down to the rubbish the aussies have bowled at us. it's the bowlers that have won us the series. that's the worst australian bowling attack i've seen in my life time. no genuine front line spinner. middle of the road pace attack and the one genuine wicket taker in the side - mitchell johnson - is more inconsistent with his lines and lengths than steve harmison on a bad day.
-
brilliant signing that. fair play to ashley for once for putting his finger in his pocket and signing some quality. i hope this is the sign of things to come this window and we tie a few more of this class up instead of losing carroll.

it's a bloody horrible town like. feel sorry for the buggers that have to live there

obviously none of us want to see carroll go but if they give us keane, bentley and kranjcar plus a bit of cash maybe then you have to admit it's tempting. i'd rather that than a straight cash offer, which probably wouldn't all be reinvested.

Couldn't stand him but I thought he was a fantastic player, both for Man Utd and England. He had the ability in the way Roy Keane did to turn the tide of a game when the chips were down and score important goals. Shame he was such a piss-head as he could've achieved even more. good player but i used to hate all the captain marvel bullshit for england when he went home injured from every tournament and we played better without him. Bad luck with injuries but, tbf, I think you could only say that happened in 1990 and who's to say we wouldn't have done better with him in the side? I seem to remember Bobby Robson saying we'd have won it with him in the team. 1986 was far more about Beardsley coming in for Hateley imo. didn't the mighty steve hodge replace him? anyway, we looked ordinary in the group games. only started looking good after robson was injured when we beat poland to progress then in the knock out round. i wouldn't say that was strictly down to his absence but we did well without him both in 86 and 90. robson reminded me a lot of keegan in his playing days. he was all effort and determination - made a lot of his pretty limited natural ability through hard graft. i never thought he was technically that gifted and as such a tad over rated, especially as he was always injured for the big tournaments. he was unlucky not to play in that man u side that succeeded him.

bryan robson - sicknote. butch 'the crab' wilkins - an england internationl should be able to pass the ball forward as well as sideways. hugo viana - european young player of the year? couldn't even play defensive midfielder tbh
-
Turned us down to stay at league 2 Bradford ffs. Ashley probably offered him ten bob a week and a bonus made up entirely of single digit sports direct vouchers
-
his wages were probably better at bradford than what ashley was offering him
-
fuxking shit. sucide watch tbh. most depressing day of the year no doubt
-
It was always difficult to see posh and becks trading sloane square for eldon square. Still, could pave way for us to get bentley in.
-
This one could go either way. One big partnership is all we need but if we get out for close to their total, they'll fancy squaring the series. Tbf to the Aussies, most of the wickets on this series have been result wickets with something in them for batters and bowlers. Ecb take note! No more chief executive pitches next summer please

I've got the fear about going back to work already and it's still two days away
