Requesting a report back on this, please. Most curry recipes don't come anywhere near recreating the real thing, but old fat tongue tends to hit the spot more often than not. Wouldn't necessarily expect it to be faithful to curry house stuff, but he often adds his own twist that really works. Look at you quoting posts! I used to work at a hospital which was publicly dragged through the media as failing its patients. I know the wards to which they were referring and the staff who work on them. I know we bleat on about being short-staffed but it's a serious, serious problem, and no matter how many times the staff fill in critical incident forms or beg for more staff, nothing gets any better. No patient in hospital should be neglected, under-nourished, dehydrated or unclean and yet it's still happening. All I can say is that there are a lot of nurses that are doing their damndest and sometimes it's not enough. I couldn't go back to working on the wards now because for all it's rewards it can be absolutely frustrating and soul-destroying for the staff whose best is nowhere near good enough given the workload.

I'm not going to bite other than to say that Gemmill is spot on - there will always be a small percentage of nurses/doctors/teachers/lawyers/binmen/add-any-other-occupation that are thoroughly incompetent. They need to be weeded out and struck off to make sure they're never allowed to 'look after' people again. The vast majority of us are competent and conscientious but it's not a good story to talk about those nurses that make a positive difference to patients lives. It is totally unacceptable for patients to be treated in the way described in the article, but there will always be people in all professions who act outside of their Code of Conduct.
