I live in Washington man, I wouldn't holiday on my own doorstep! Despite the Nissan Factory and Penshaw Monument being some of Wearside's landmarks
-
I genuinely can't think of a worse way to spend a holiday.

Just been reading about the Sally Bercow saga. Now there's a woman in the midst of a mid-life crisis http://www.independent.co.uk/news/people/sally-bercows-marriage-to-commons-speaker-in-jeopardy-after-she-is-reportedly-accused-of-having-an-affair-with-his-cousin-10240247.html

Vegas has never, ever appealed to me and I say that as a travel nut.

Would it not become the wife until the child was born and came of age?

I haven't contributed to this discussion for a few reasons, one of them being that I'm nowhere near as knowledgeable and eloquent as some of you when discussing politics, but am thoroughly enjoying reading it. I've had the same reservations over who to vote for as many others but despising Cameron, seeing my dad go through 25 years of poor mental health directly caused by Thatcher's decisions, only recently being given a 1% "pay rise" after 5 years of frozen wages (the same amount of time that I've had another mouth to feed) and feeling thoroughly devalued and disrespected in my profession means that can not and will not ever vote Tory. I'm a single mother and a nurse so Cameron holds as little respect for me as I do for him anyway. Whilst Labour have made mistakes, they still best represent me and my little family, so that's what I have to support. As you were. I'm hoping for a fairly peaceful shift at work tonight so I can watch things unfold through the night.

I'm quite lost for words actually. It's just like a really, really bad dream except there's no waking up and making it go away. -
She was 35. A friend of mine was diagnosed with breast cancer just before Christmas. She's had a mastectomy and chemo and has tests in a couple of weeks to see if she's winning thus far. She's got 4 kids and is unbelievably positive and amazing. I genuinely don't know how I'd cope with news like that.

Totally disagree (but then I would) Friends who have girls tell me stories of much more volatile tempers, far more self-awareness at a much younger age, girls being more devious, more mind-games etc. I think boys are more straightforward and simple in their outlook. I know for a fact that I'm undoubtedly spoiled as the bairn is far more grown-up, cautious, thoughtful and considerate than I deserve and hasn't given me a scrap of bother since the day he was born. I think having a girl would scare me, especially seeing how fast they grow-up (both physically and psychologically)
-
Congratulations to them. The birth of a healthy, loved child is a blessing.

Just hearing the news that Rio Ferdinand's wife passed away last night from breast cancer, leaving 3 little ones behind. Awful

Lovely news

For those of you into your comedy, have you listened to The Comedian's Comedian? (This is right up your alley @@The Fish) It's Stuart Goldsmith interviewing comedians about the process of their comedy - how they come up with stuff, how it goes from being an idea to delivered on stage etc. Just started listening recently and I'm finding them really interesting. There's a huge back catalogue too so you can pick and choose any favourites.
