I'm quite lost for words actually. It's just like a really, really bad dream except there's no waking up and making it go away. -
She was 35. A friend of mine was diagnosed with breast cancer just before Christmas. She's had a mastectomy and chemo and has tests in a couple of weeks to see if she's winning thus far. She's got 4 kids and is unbelievably positive and amazing. I genuinely don't know how I'd cope with news like that.

Totally disagree (but then I would) Friends who have girls tell me stories of much more volatile tempers, far more self-awareness at a much younger age, girls being more devious, more mind-games etc. I think boys are more straightforward and simple in their outlook. I know for a fact that I'm undoubtedly spoiled as the bairn is far more grown-up, cautious, thoughtful and considerate than I deserve and hasn't given me a scrap of bother since the day he was born. I think having a girl would scare me, especially seeing how fast they grow-up (both physically and psychologically)

Congratulations to them. The birth of a healthy, loved child is a blessing.

Just hearing the news that Rio Ferdinand's wife passed away last night from breast cancer, leaving 3 little ones behind. Awful

For those of you into your comedy, have you listened to The Comedian's Comedian? (This is right up your alley @@The Fish) It's Stuart Goldsmith interviewing comedians about the process of their comedy - how they come up with stuff, how it goes from being an idea to delivered on stage etc. Just started listening recently and I'm finding them really interesting. There's a huge back catalogue too so you can pick and choose any favourites.

I've toyed with the idea of snoozing in the garden after a nightshift when the weather is particularly nice as I feel like I'm missing out by going to bed, but I'd end up looking like Rodney out of OFaH when he falls asleep on the sunbed.

I do love the peace and quiet of them couple of hours before the madness starts, I must admit. I normally set my alarm for 6.30am so I can have an hour to myself before I have to get the bairn up, but I've been awake long before it recently.

I'm starting to regularly wake (and actually get up) at 5am. What's that all about?!

Random fact for a Friday morning: My brother's new girlfriend is the absolute spitting double of our @@Jill. To the point where I've had to stop myself calling her such on several occasions, and when Joseph's dad met her he thought it actually was her

20 years ago today the first episode of Father Ted was broadcast. "There's cocaine in it!" (PS - Don't listen to @@Ant if he tries to tell you it was yesterday - what does he know?!)

He's never been a fan of the Mouse, or any of the other 'big' characters. He's pretty much outgrown Toy Story and a lot of the other movies he was into when he was younger and is now obsessed with Marvel, Transformers, Minions etc, so it made more sense to do that.
