My criticism of him stems entirely from the fact you honestly cannot trust his next whim at all (Mac-Toon's criticism essentially). Others however seem to be entirely focussed on things not happening quickly enough with big money transfers and this accounts for their criticism. Fortunately for those in the latter camp Leazes has promised a take over in the first couple months of the year so that could change things on that score, but if it does I'd like to see the more root and branch improvements of club ethos being continued and not sacrificed on the altar of colour coded Audi R8's.

Gejon takes a bit of an unwarranted slating tbf. Everyone was a militant in the early days of the board wars as you basically picked a side and justified why you'd done so and had a good go at each other for taking the opposite path. From a personal point of view I think N-O looked daft during board wars principally (nay solely) because you had HTT going off his nut over here ever five minutes because his watered down commercial vision for the brand had gone up in smoke. However the reality will have been that we will have looked like twats to them too though, if you were one of those who shared HTT's vision. That's not an apology btw-because I didn't enjoy HTT's vision-it's just an acknowledgment we all acted in a way which doesnt apply any more because we've both settled into our own distinct and happier existences. Which brings me back to Gejon, cos although he takes a lot of flak on here for N-O (and his early modship), he can laugh at himself at the end of the day and his 'defence' of N-O is a lot more moderate and less obsessive than is made out. His effectiveness is largely down to the sheer size and power of him, something he won't lose, and he plays a relatively simple game technically. I'm convinced, if anything, he'll get even better. Not attempting to plagiarise, but I was actually going to make that very point. The fact of his size and natural strengths (big man who's actually looking increasing 'good with his feet') is what makes me think the signs are good and what makes me inclined to think he should be a top striker for years yet. Also he's not reliant on pace that will fade. The unknown quantity is whether he's going to be a professional athlete for his career or a well paid pissheed.

Well we've only got a couple days to wait to find out one way or another anyway so I'm finding it hard to get worked up about because that only really comes when you've got ages to speculate and sweat it out. If he doesn't go this window then the "Ashley will sell literally anything in sight" rhetoric will have to be put to bed once and for all at least. I know it won't, but it should. Theres a clear potential conflict of interest between club and manager if you're going to give your manager a percentage on sale of players as there surely must be some incentive to flog players for profit but to the detriment of the team (club). That said if the club wants to agree those very terms with it's own employee then it's entirely it's own affair.
