Perfect time to sell Owen to Man City....

Shola will turn into Ronaldo under Keegan. FACT. -
Well at least agree that they have been the 2nd best parternership at the back in the EPL this season behind that other team from Manchester...? (well Distin and Campbell tied 2nd perhaps?...hehe) At home yes and away from home no. De facto that amounts to a massive difference. On the road is where strengths really get tested and medals get won.

Richards is a bit of an irrelevance for me as a barometer in that context because the guy can literally afford to make two challenges for each ball he goes for. Eben if the first is a mistake he has time to rectify with another. He's typical of someone who will make a very good career for himself out of just being more athletic than his opponent. I don't think Dunne's abilities look enhanced by Richards' or Richards' by Dunne's tbh.

See I find that's the view of the standard know fuck all, not that I'm saying you are. It's a popular view though, amongst the the clueless 80% of football fans, the same fans who think Hoddle is a shit coach. Not that I'm saying that applies to you, I don't think it does and you're entitled to your opinion, but the bloke is a man mountain, City have been shit but he's still been their player of the season 3 years in a row, he's a magnificent defender, to whoever said he was slow The modern day football fan, makes me feel embarrassed of my favourite sport. Well if I'm being totally honest, by calling him 'average' I was trying to be charitable by equalising his bad points against his good ones - thus resulting in an overall score which was 'meh'-ok. The truth of the matter tho really is that any bad points at CB are going to get you found out so it doesnt work like that in reality. Consequently if I was pressed I'd say he was overall poor. He isn't slow I'd agree, but equally he's not fast enough to compete with the fastest strikers. the only way you can compensate for that is with a monumentally well timed challenge (step forward Woodgate) and he's not in that league either. His good points are that he's generally consistent and throws himself into challenges 100%, but we've got someone like that already in Taylor and he's not good enough either. Theyre very much in the same moldfor me. It's just it's more tolerable to see that as a fan when someone is visibly giving their all-which Dunne definitely does, but that doesnt equate to actual class at the end of the day. I hear what you say. But not all central defenders have to be ball players. Other attributes are important for central defenders, there is absolutely nothing wrong with throwing everything into a 100% challenge !!!! Step forward John Terry, Carragher, Vidic to name a few. I completely disagree with what you say about Taylor too. Totally agree with that, never said I wanted a ball palying CB and definitely don't want a ball playing CB. I hope KK avoids the temptation this time too (but doubt it). I applaud your John Terry example as it is spot on. That's the type of player that Dunne would be if he was just generally all round a bit better (if you get what i mean). But he's not. That's the level above for me. Steven Taylor will never make a top defender. The same was said of Dunne at his age and look at him now I'm sorry but isn't that central to the whole dispute here?

Le Fil De Deschamps In/Out De Fonctionnaire!
manc-mag replied to Andrew Flintoff's topic in Newcastle Forum
If there's one thing in the world I couldn't give a tinkers cuss about it's legal services. Ask anyone that knows me. -
Say what I see tbh I didnt realise how much I cared about it tbh, but it just brought back the hideous reality of the TT/N-O merger days and this being exactly what we fucked off from. Thats it though-that was our reaction to the way HTT wanted to take the site-we fucked off. These lot actually love how juvenile the place is, which is why this thread has got to 20 pages. Fucking frightening.

PS if you don't think Mort needs to prove his competency then your standards are shocking. The fact that he's a 'top lawyer' doesn't necessarily qualify him to have conduct of the affairs of a football club. That's not to say he's not up to it, but you're basically saying that it necesarily follows that he does because he's a top lawyer. Completely nonsensical. I'm a junior lawyer and I don't feel qualified to be chairman of a lower league club. PS Gordon McKeag was a lawyer by trade. -

oh okay...fair enough...Sam would have 'expected' him to give him money would he...looked up at him with those big puppy dog eyes..and Mike would have then felt pressured to I spose..aww bless. Bollocks, the reason I used the word 'forced', was that unless Ashley was actually forced to give him money, then you don't have a point to make. No Ashley could have just told him there was no money available in the window. How hard would that be? he's quite canny with money our Mike as you're so quick to point out elsewhere so i doubt BSA's puppy dog eye routine would have had him persuaded. The point was about the timing of the sacking without having anyone else lined up. It was bad whichever way you slice it. He could have told Sam there were no funds this window simple as and he didnt need to justify that by stating his motives. Didnt have to sack Allardyce for the reason you've stated there. Total cobblers. -

Are you going to explain how Ashley would have been forced to release money to BSA. I'm all ears. -
"I beg your pardon, I never promised you a Hoegaarden. " what song is that?

Interesting observation considering the post count of those involved. The point I was making is that the attraction of N-O seems to me to be: for mods/admin: pompous omnipotence, with the ability to go around dishing out arbitrary punishments for regular posters: bitching about mods/admins, but secretly actually loving it as it gives them the basic reference point for all their humour Basically, the entire humour seems to be in ridiculing the mods/admins, but what I don't understand is where's the fun in that, it's like shooting fish in a barrell as the mods are just kids. Bit embarrassing tbh. Worse though they then come over here making out like theyre above it all whereas it's clear that NSG etc have got as inflated opinions of themselves as the mods that theyre sending up. In all seriousness, when TT and N-O were merged it was hideous, and it was because the mods/admins/HTT's henchmen were cunts. The reaction of TT however was to just dissociate itself from that carry on because, although you could quite easily make the new set up look stupid, there was no enjoyment in it as they were in all honesty a bunch of kids. It's boring. The difference with NSG etc (as evidenced in this thread) is that this is actually the stuff they thrive off. They don't ever seem to tire of it and glory in how ridiculous their various bans have been. Which I don't doubt, but why would I fucking care? The site is a joke, so yes, the bans are going to be ridiculous. It doesnt need 20 pages for us to understand that, we understand it immediately because it's the place we fucked off from. It sounds like an overreaction, but that's the worry for me. The two boards are so very different because the sense of humour is so different. I just don't want this place going like N-O. It's fucking mind-numbing.

This thread epitomises N-O tbh, in every respect.
